SOURCE: GPS plug do not fit in car cigarette lighter

Buy a adapter for your cigarette lighter socket that has multiple sockets with one that will fit the Garmin adapter.
I've never heard of a problem you are having??
Are you using a Garmin plug?
If not get one.

Automobile Radio Secuity Code

Tired of searching for your vehicle in dash receiver security code after the battery has been disconnected? Here is a simple device that will keep that from happening.
You will need a cigarette lighter plug, a 9 volt battery snap-on connector, and a standard 9 volt battery. The snap-on connector can be retrieved from an old smoke alarm. Solder the connector to the two wires from the cigarette lighter plug; Making sure the polarity is correct ( + to + and - to - ). The center tip of the plug is positive and the two outside springs are negative. A piece of shrink tubing slipped over each wire before soldering makes a neat and safe connection. Connect a fresh 9 volt battery to the snap-on connector. When the vehicle's battery needs to be disconnected; Plug the device into the cigarette lighter before the battery is detached and power will be maintained to the radio. This eliminates the need to input a security code.

Lowrance 350 wont turn on

Plug it in. Is there a green or red light on the iWay 350? If red, it will probably turn on now while plugged in and just needs to be charged. If it won't charge, it is malfunctioning. If no lights come on when plugged in, the 350 is malfunctioning.

Does the green light come on the cigarette lighter adapter? If not, the fuse in the cig adapter is blown or the power cable needs to be replaced.

Powering a car amplifier

Bad idea. The wiring leading up to your cigarette lighter is usually a cheap 16 gauge wire. The amplifier will not be able to draw enough amperage through that power source. You could however, use the positive on your cigarette lighter as your remote for the amp. This would be helpful if your cigarette lighter turns off and on with the car.

Unit (tom tom 1xl) turning off

One hour is about the time the unit will run without a power source.

You need to check that the cigarette lighter is working. Check the car fuse.

Check the fuse (one of the six bumps) on the cigarette lighter plug has not blown.

Is the cigarette lighter / Tom Tom lead damaged in any way?

My Garmin Nuvi (200 I think) freezes..

My recomendation is to use the original accesory for cigarete lighter. I'll give you an example: when I connect my Nuvi 200 to any other USB cable (computer or home charger) its behaviour is like you said - it "says" that is connected to a computer and remains in stand by. But when I connect it to cigarette lighter (but note - the original one) the nuvi 200 recognize it as a car power source and works. The battery symbol disappear from screen and it works perfectly. When I turn off the engine or simply unplug the device from cigarette lighter (not from nuvi !) it recognizez that and ask me if I want tu turn it off on remains on on own battery. If I make no option the nuvi will turn off automatically after some seconds. So it recognize perfectly the car adapter and its behaviour is adapted to a car.

Can't lock onto satelite signal!!

Sounds like the aerial. There is a very fine wire in the center of the male aerial plug. If this is bent then you will have that problem. Aerials are hard to get, dealers say they are obsolete...update your model. Cheers, Peter
