Question about Metz mecablitz 76 MZ-5 TTL Flash

Open Question

I am trying to use my remote trigger for my metz mecablitz 76 mz on my 5D Mark II Canon. I put the remote adapter on the shoe of the Canon and had the Metz on a light stand. I then tried to use the power unit and put on A but there is no signal going from my camera to adapter or power unit as the flash isn't being triggered can you tell me step by step if I want to trigger the flash with the wireless adapter on my 5D Mark II what to do as I need to use it either on camera or on a light stand. If you are using Pocket wizard you attach a hotshoe to pocket wizard adapter to the unit that usually fits on your camera hotshoe and attach this unit as usual to the 76mz5. There are various brackets that can secure and tidy the whole thing but you can manage without them if you wish. I got the paramount hotshoe to pocket wizard mini jack to do this £35 each from TFC and the bracket to fit the 76 MZ5 to a stroboframe bracket from speedgraphics at £17 and a one to fit the TTL controller to the 76mz 5 keeping it all tidy in all it cost £67 but makes a neet little unit that can be mounted on a stand and if you want to spend another £25 you can even attach a brolly. Great as a studio flash unit

SOURCE: can't get the metz 76 mz-5 to display E-ttl for my

Hi.

Check the unit contact and ensure that it is correctly connected to the camera.

If that does not fix the problem, then there may be a fault. In that case the best thing to do is contacting Canon, validating product warranty, and discussing the problem with them.

Regards.

What do you mean with Adapter?
You know Metz makes a range of Speed lights, for a range of different camera brands. It is not only the hot shoe that looks different for most brands, also the firmware in the Speed light is different. So your camera should have the same protocol as the brand you bought your Mezt for.

The good news is. I use both Nikon and Metz Speed lights. My Metz is from my Canon days, but when using it remote, I can use it with my Nikon, on the flash trigger that my small Speed light on the camera fires. So the wireless (light) remote, is standard for most brands.

Hi, I am going to use this flash with Canon 5D mark II. And I have Canon 5D. What I need to by..adapter, or update old adapter? Please help me out. Sincerely Oleg Ratner

Just the PC Sync Cable that came with the flash.

Open the left side (rubber flap) of the camera, insert the the cable into the silver round circle with a center dot (camera's PC Sync Socket.

Set camera to "M", ASA/ISO to 400 on both, set 125 on camera, set camera/flash to F5.6.

Which adapter do Ineed to connect my nikon d90 with metz 45 cl-4 (non digital )

What do you mean by adaptor?! You will need to by a hotshoe adaptor with a hole that talkes the old style cable plug from your Metz lead and away you go! Try jessops. (As long as you have the lead from your Metz!?

Metz mecablitz 45 ct 1 and Nikon D-90

The trigger voltage of the 45CL-1 is about 12V, so it should be safe to connect directly to the hot shoe with an adaptor, or to the pc soclet, if the D90 has one. If the D90 is anything like my Canon 40D, which can stand about 30V on the hot shoe, then all the 45CL series will be ok, as they have trigger voltages between 9V and 12V. The 45CT-5 has a trigger voltage of 15V and works well on the 40D. I use 3 different Metz 45 models with my 40D and all work well on automatic, where the flash sensor itself controls the light output.
