Well it depends on what the situation is.
1. For desktops only: For example, if you have a desktop, make sure your speakers or headphones are connected to the right jack. For speakers, you should insert the cord into the green colored jack located on the back of your PC. For headphones, most modern computers now have a headphone jack in front of the PC (you can easily find this by looking for a jack with an icon of a headphone above it).
If you are trying to listen through speakers, after making sure you have them connected to the right jack, make sure your speakers are plugged in to an outlet. If you have a speaker set up where you have 2 side speakers and a big box, make sure the connections to each of them are complete - then connect them to an outlet.
After following those steps, try to restart your computer and then listen to some music.
2. For both desktops and laptops: If not, try to go to the manufacturer's website and download the audio driver for your PC model. The support website usually follows the format of support..com - for example, Dell's is support.dell.com . After downloading the file, double-click to install the driver and then restart the PC. You should now have sound.

Go to control panel and look for device manager
if you dont have an option that says "sound, video and game controllers" then your sound might be under "other device"
Check Both just to make sure
If you see that your driver has a yellow mark on it, uninstall it, Make sure that that the delete from computer is unchecked
Then Restart your computer

If still doesn't work go to your computer OEM website to find the latest audio driver for your operating system and download/install driver.

SOURCE: NO AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE IS INSTALLED

I experienced the same no audio problem after Ultimate upgrade. Here is how I solved it.
Computer type: Dell Inspiron 1501 (Laptop)

1. Open internet browser. (in my case Internet Explorer)
2. Click on Favorites
3. Click on DELL
4, Click on Support.Dell.Com
5. Click on Drivers & Downloads
6. Click on Choose computer model
7. Select product model ( laptop, desktop....)
8. Select product model (in my case Inspiron 1501)
9. Confirm selection
10. Select operating system (in my case Vista)
11. Under category, select Audio.
12, Under downloads, select SIGMATEL-DRIVER STAC92XXX C-MAJOR HD AUDIO.
13. Select RUN.

Note: The computer went through the process of downloading and re-configuring the audio drivers. About half-way through the download, the red circle dissappeared from the speaker icon on the task bar. The computer re-booted and the audio returned.
I hope this helps.......Pete

No audio output device detected

Missing sound driver is most common issue. You didn't say what operating system so it is difficult to provide detailed instructions for checking for the presence of the correct driver.

My pc says no audio output device installed, but in device manager it says its working properly and the drivers are up to date

Well it is possible that the audio driver installed is not the one compatible with you computer board. Try downloading the specific driver needed for your computer's official website. This should solve your problem.

Audio output device

Hi.

The audio output device in your computer is the audio adapter board (or circuit). This is the device that produces sounds and send them to the speakers.

If you get a message telling you that there is no Audio Output Device detected, or that the Audio Device is not working, that usually means that there is a problem with the audio driver.

In that case the problem is often fixed downloading and reinstalling the drivers for your audio device. If there is a problem with the audio output device, go to the computer manufacturer website (e.g. Dell, HP, Sony etc.) and download the audio drivers for your specific model. When download is complete install the drivers and restart the computer.

Regards.

Problems with audio after installing radeon hd 2400

Hi,

This happens because the video card has hdmi output. Since hdmi output can carry audio signals also, the audio driver gets disabled. Uninstall audio driver and video driver both, install the video driver, and then install audio driver. after installing the audio driver, in playback and recording devices choose choose the audio output device you purchased along with the computer. This should fix the issue.

Revert back for any clarifications.
