Hello, I've just found out that the bearing of my LG wd 16220 FDN washing machine is broken. Can you please tell me how I can replace it and wat part number the new bearing must have? Many thanks in advance. Sinc., Marco Bonjernoor The Netherlands

    Hello Keith,

Thank you for your quick reply.

So far I've managed to remove the rotor from the axle (Just to make sure you know; it's a direct drive washer).
Now I must remove the axle out of the bearings, but I have no idea how, it just won't budge.
I've tried a rubber mallet, but that doesn't work good enough and besides, I've got the idea that I'm
driving the axle through the backside of the drum if I continue any further...
Do I have to disassemble the whole drum unit? Or is there another way to remove the bearing?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

    Kind regards,

I just went to the LG website and did not see your model number.

However from my experience I would bet that the WM1812 model would be pretty close to yours.

The link I have posted is for the model mentioned above.

Look to the far left hand side of the page and download the service will show you how to do this procedure.

Let me know how you made out.

The bearings are press fitted into the wash tub. The parts are available but they are not intended to be replaced as individual parts. To replace the bearings, you would need to replace the entire rear tub shell You may find that the spin basket will need to be replaced as well. The spin basket has a limited lifetime warranty on the part (labor would be charged for replacement). Instead of completing this repair yourself, you may want to refer to your owner's manual and contact LG for service. NOTE: I do not think that you would be able to have the spin basket replaced under the warranty without having a service technician diagnose the failure and replace the spin basket. If you intend to replace the spin basket yourself you would need to pay for the part.

So the answer to your question would be will need to take apart the two outer halves of the shell.

Have you looked for the bearings yet? Do you know if they are available for your model?

If you want to remove them yourself without reploacing the rear tub then you will need to press them out. You coulc take it up to a local machine shop after you purchase the bearings and have them press out the new and install the old. Unless of course you have a press.

Lg intellowasher wd-8013f is very noisy

it will definitely be the bearings and possibly the spider as well. the spider is attached to the bowl. the spider is made of aluminum and they corrode all the time. open the door to the machine and grab hold of the steel bowl, has it got movement on it. if it has then the spider and bearings are faulty, also the main shaft seal will need replacing.nearly every time i went to an LG 8013f that was noisy it was the bearings and or spider. hope this helps. please reply 4 more help. good luck.

LG Intellowasher 7kg, Model WD-8074FHB - noisy spin cycle

You are right!

Bearings have to be replaced. Replace with the same type and design. All the bearings connected to the washer center shaft has to be replaced at the same time with new set.

Replace the water seals also connected to this. Check the shaft where the bearing sits, for any abrasions or metal damage.

Check the bearing housing also. While carrying out these repairs check the drive belt also. If needed replace it.

If you are happy with the machine outer body and other aspects repair it and re-use it.

LG washing machine error codes

I have today the same error code on model WD-11155FB. This code means that the speed of the electrical motor can no longer be controlled. The velocity sensor placed just behind the motor is probably damaged but it can be also the electronic board where is connected this sensor, or the wiring between these two items.

Removing the bearings from my direct drive washing machine

If you're talking about the rear drum support bearing, they are usually not removable. They are molded into the plastic tub shell. When the bearings go bad you generally have to replace the entire back shell of the wash tub.
