Question about Hitachi Televison & Video
The "Magic Focus" is really a auto convergence that tries to adjust at about 16 points on the screen; if it will not correct the convergence the two convergence IC chips need to be replaced along with any bad resistors around them (total parts cost on EBAY would be under $25.00).
The chips are black and will have a number in white on them like STK-392-110 or a similar number, they are mounted on large metal heat sinks or a single sink with fins.
Whenever convergence will not adjust one of the chips is bad (always replace both at same time).
