Question about Evga P55V SLI Motherboard w/ SuperSpeed USB 3.0 PCI-Express Card Bundle (P55VSLIW100U3EU30TR)

1 Answer

Hello, I will try to explain my problem as clear, however, as short as I can. I am building a machine off the P55V Sli motherboard (1156). Case mounted the board proberly, S-ATA's had a few issues with the labeling, eventually figured it out, and the solution fixed the inital problem. However the raid S-ATA on the board don't face the the side like the ROM versions that face towards the front panel of the case. I am wanting to run a raid0 config x2 500gb 7200rpm 12mb cache seagates. love em. work perfectly. And because i have to use the slots that face straight out, the 260 Maxcore video card will not seat correctly in the top PCI-e slot. and when its in the lower slot it gives a POST on boot-up 1 long 8 short. Which as us overclockers and builders know, thats a video read error. I fitted a 5670 radean inside on the p55v in the top position, and boot up went without a hinge. So..it may be a faulty card, but i am hoping there is a solution in a BIOS update perhaps one that swaps the PCI-e slots around or turns off SLI mode. I will be running a single card for the time being. the 260 maxcore is over 14 inches long, so fitting 2 on this board will be a cooling nightmare. other notes about the build not mentioned: 550 PSU (SLI and Raid) 4gb ram x2 500gb hdds x1 DVD burner/CD burner

There must be a video card in the first pci x *usually running x16* and the 2nd usually runs at x4. the motherboard will not post at all if there is a card in the 2nd slot but not the first (hence the beeps) you can buy right angle adapters for sata connectors if that helps and makes sense?

Indicates a memory error, if you have more than one ram/memory you can try them one at a time in the machine (i always advise using anti-static wrist band when handling sensitive components) Ensure memory slots are clean/ free from dust If there is more than one stick of ram check they are compatible

1long 2 short beeps, No POST/Visual display

Hi there
One Long and Two Short Beeps = Video (Mono/CGA Display Circuitry) issue.
If you are using a PCI Express graphics card remove it and use the on-board VGA/DVI port
If it is the on-board graphics you are using clear the cmos
d015d7b.jpg<<<<< you will see in the picture a plastic jumper (in this case coloured green), move it to the other position and hit the on/off button, then put it back in its original position and power up the machine again. Hopefully the issue will have been sorted.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

Hey, I own the same motherboard and I don't have your problem.
I would suggest trying to update the bios, i think its more of a bios problem / motherboard issue, not windows related.

New build computer wont turn on (ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Socket 939)

The ATX power supply needs to have pin16(PS_On#) to be connected to COM for it to work. When you press the power switch on the front panel of the computer, you are essentially making this connection. Check that the cable from the power supply to the motherboard is making good connection. You can verify operation of the power supply by shorting Pin16 to pin17 on the powersupply output, with a paper clip. Pin16 is usually a green wire and 17 is black. Hope this helps. -Vish
