Hi,

If your printer connects through usb please do the following

Please do the steps if you are using windows

1: Switch off the printer . unplug the usb cable from the computer and printer

2: (For Windows Xp computer )
Now Click start > Control panel > Printers and faxes > delete all printers that shows here

(For Windows 7 computer )
Now Click start > Control panel > Devices and Printers > delete all printers that shows here

3: Plug the printer usb cable back to the printer and computer and switch on it.

4: Check whether your printer is detecting and installing . After the installation windows will give out a message " Your new hardware is ready to use"

5: (For Windows Xp computer )
Now Click start > Control panel > Printers and faxes > check whether a new printer is added here. If there try to take a print out.

(For Windows 7 computer )
Now Click start > Control panel > Devices and Printers > check whether a new printer is added here. If there try to take a print out

My Lexmark Platinum PRO905 does ot print it gives me the message " Communication Not Available, The Printer cannot communicate with the computer"


A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if usb-connected), reboot your computer and unplug/replug your printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect the printer into the computer. Try to print again.

Problem communicating with printer message when printing. printer says offline


This could be just a slight communication issue. Try to unplug your printer from your computer. Unplug and replug the printer into your power outlet to reset itself. When the printer powers on, reconnect it into your computer. Doing this usually fixes minor communication issues. Thanks.

When I try to scan or print a message comes up telling me to ck power and usb connections. I have unplugged and restarted computer 4 times and still have problem


It could be a communications error message, the printer is not communicating with the computer.

  • Disconnect and then reconnect the USB cable.
  • Disconnect and then reconnect the printer power cable.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Remove and reinstall the printer software

  • If your printer does not function properly or communication error messages appear when using your printer, you can remove and reinstall the printer software.
    1. Click Start®Programs or All Programs®Dell Printers®Dell Photo AIO Printer 962®Uninstall Dell Photo AIO Printer 962.

    2. Follow the instructions on the computer screen to remove the printer software.

    3. Restart your computer before installing the software again.

    4. Insert the Drivers and Utilities CD, and then follow the instructions on the computer screen to install the software.

    If the installation screen does not appear:

      1. In Windows XP, click Start®My Computer.

    In Windows 2000, double-click My Computer from your desktop.

      1. Double-click the CD-ROM drive icon. If necessary, double-click setup.exe.

      2. When the printer software installation screen appears, click Install or Install Now.

      3. Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation.

    CANT ENABLE BIDIRECTIONAL COMMUNICATION X4550


    I have tried to set up this wireless printer on my laptop (windows vista basic). I run through installation and get message - installation complete and the green indicator light is fully on. When I try and print I get message Printer cannot communicate with computer - please turn on 'Enable Biodirectional Communication' in printer properties. I go to control panel/printer/propertie/ports/ and I see Enable Biodirectional communication - the box is grayed out and I cannot enable it. Any suggestions?

    With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

    To fix a fouled install:
    (1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
    (2) Shutdown the computer
    (3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
    (4) Restart the computer
    (5) Run the Driver Installation software
    (6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
    (7) When the software asks for the printer connect it and continue

    will i think theirs two posible options why not communicate the printer first not proper installed the printer driver or maybe your connection from the computer to printer will loss contact that why not communicate...
