It would actually be cheaper to buy a new motherboard+GPU.

This card is not officially supported under Windows 7. You could try the ATI Catalyst Windows Vista graphics driver under Windows 7, but it's not officially supported by AMD.

What graphics card can i get for a ms-7071 v1 motherboard

One AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) 8x/4X slot. First is the Nvidia Geforce Fx 5500 256MB and the second is ATI Radeon™ 9550. These two video cards are supported by your motherboard. Have a nice day.

Which graphics card is best for gaming ati or nvidia?

Well this depends, ATI or now known as AMD; and Nvidia both make excellent cards.

This decision is going to have to be made by you.

ATI/AMD option
If you plan on going the ATI/AMD way then I would suggest nothing less than the HD 5770 in the 5000 series or HD 4770 in the 4000 series. If you really want a performance card then anything in the latest 6000 series will work wonders for your system.

Nvidia option
If you plan on going the Nvidia way then I would suggest anything from the GTS240 upward in the 200 series or GTS450 in the latest 400 series. Just remember if you want to take advantage of DirectX 11 graphics with Windows 7 then only cards in the 400 series and higher have DirectX 11 support.

My personal opinion
I personally have a Zotac GTS450 powered by Nvidia and it plays any game on the current market, like Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2, at 1920x1080 Full HD highest graphics settings. So far I have found Nvidia to be the best choice for me.

Both different types have their pros and cons.
On the one hand ATI/AMD cards do not have Nvidia Physx so your games will look a little bit more realistic in terms of environment destruction with an Nvidia card.
Then on the other hand Nvidia cards are a little bit more expensive.

Hello.
Looking at your specs, I assume that a Pentium 4 is not enough to run these kinds of games, so the overwhelming amount of data going through the cpu may have been causing your system to overheat.
Do these steps:
(1) Uninstall and then re-install your graphics card driver, if problem persists, go to number 2
(2) Try playing around with the ATI Catalyst settings, set everything there to default
(3) If problem still persists, then I -am- sure that your PC and/or graphics card is way too overheated, in this case:
(a) I recommend getting a heat-monitor (doesn't come cheap though) for your PC, to keep yourself notified of the temperatures of your PC
(b) Try buying more fans and if you can afford it get a water-cooling system

Above all, if you can afford a better -Gaming- PC then I'd suggest that, because your system isn't really that great for new games.

Good luck!

Hi, I would like to buy a graphic card for my pc desktop, but not sure which one? I've got a ms 7071 motherboard and agp1 and a pci2 slots both available, thanks

AGP is better than PCI, since it is designed for video. Your AGP slot is 4x/8x, so don't waste money on a 16x card.

AGP is an older technology, so you should be able to find a very good card for less than $50. I like to stick with brand names like NVIDIA or ATI.

You could try this link, but with all Beta software nothing is guaranteed until the approved verisons are released.

Not put down your video card though x1650 is not a "screamer" in todays standards, I'm running a 3870OC myself because it was cheaper than to buy the latest and greatest. I believe you are limited by your motherboard only having AGP? Take a look at this link:

You would be able to retain the already installed drivers. It all depends on your budget. On another note try lowering your colors and changing the monitors frequency. I hope this helps.
