If the discs PHYSICALLY get stuck, then the mech is damaged. A local shop MAY be able to fix it, but it might be a better investment to just replace the radio.

Yes. If the discs do not freely go in or out, then the MECHANISM that controls these actions is damaged/misalligned/jammed/dirty/ etc......

I see... when you said "cd gets stuck and will not come out unless i pull the faceplate out put it back on then hit eject", I thought you meant it got stuck inside. Well, if it loads/ejects fine, then yes it is either a dirty or dead laser. You could try gently swabbing the lens with a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol and then immediately drying it with canned air. If that doesnt fix it, then it's likely time to replace it.

My pioneer car stereo DEH-P77MP won't play cd's anymore. the radio still works, but on the screen it says cd error AO or A0. i was wondering what problem this code relates to? hope you can help,...

This is a common error with these units when they get dusty from putting dirty disks inside the drive. Just go to your local staples and or walmart and get a 5 dollar disk player cleaning kit. It looks like a plain cd but has small fibers that come out of the bottom of the disc that clean the laser as it spins and tries to read it.

PIONEER DEH-P7700MP/P770MP CD/MP3 Faceplate

do you want the detachable face or the case to hold the detachable face?

Here is the detachable face at the Pioneer site:

Here is the case for the detachable face:

You might find the face, or even the whole radio with face cheaper on ebay.

Cd error-ao pioneer deh-77mp

I read a solution on here where you disconnect the wiring harness for 30-60 mins. to release the power stored in the capacitors. It seemed to work for everyone. I don't know if you tried this for this amount of time or not. Also, have you used a cd cleaner disc? You laser eye may be dirty. Also, since you said it was an old, battered car, maybe the vibration is causing the unit to malfunction. Also, if the unit is installed at the incorrect angle in the dash, it can cause a problem. Hope this helps...

Did you check the fuse with a ohmmeter. fuses that small are realy hard to see... just check the continuity between the two termanils on the fuse, there should be continuity. Check your fuse panel of your car or truck, maybe it poped a fuse there. Physically check the power input with a votimeter and see if you have your 12 volts to the unit.
