This is a common problem in the acer line, remove bottom and clean all the open ports and fins on the heat sink and fan. Next remove the heat sink and clean the old conductive paste off, including the processor ic with rubbing alcohol, now! apply fresh conductive thermal paste to the heat sink and ic, this will increase the heat dissipation by 50%, and check to make sure the fan is running properly, "high failure rate" this should solve your shutdown problem.

Why isMy Acer aspire gettting really hot, would replacing the battery help?

Sometimes, the computer gets really hot because the "ventilation" (cooling) system (fan, etc.) is not working properly. Normally, if it gets too hot, i.e. to an unacceptable level, the system will shut down. Or, it will catch on fire.
Yes, it's known that some battery will get too hot ... and potentially damage the system. So, if you already know that the cooling system is working properly, then try replacing the battery.

Change the power supply unit out or button one of the two to solve this matter. Before a fire starts with the hot spot catching some dust particles, this has been known to happen............John

The underside of my Acer Aspire 5720 gets incredibly hot after only 30 minutes of usage. What could be the reason(s) and how best to solve the issue.

2 possible reasons: a program in the background is running constantly at full power (open Task Manager, find it and uninstall it) or the cooler is clogged with dirt (use a can of compressed air and a q-tip to clean it). To remove some of that heat use a cooling pad.

Key board problem

It would seem that the keyboard may be defective. It is a fairly standard keyboard layout, so SHIFT-2 should produce the @ sign. It looks to be a fairly cheap fix:

My acer 5720 keeps overheating when playing games and shutting down any tips to overcome this .

  1. Buy a laptop cooler
  2. put your laptop on a leveled surface such as a table
  3. do not put your laptop on your bed while its on, that causes the laptops vents to block and no air can be sucked in eventually the laptop gets heated and automatically turns off
  4. plz dont forget to vote if i solved your problem :)

ACER Aspire 5720 overheat problem?

Try to keep as much ventilation under the laptop as possible.
You can pick up a can of power spray and blow out the unit yourself or have a pro. do it for you.
Dust and lint play a deadly part in overheating with laptops.
Walmart has Ventilation trays in which the laptop sits and is cooled by forced air from underneath.
Make sure the direction of air flow is the same as your laptop.
You dont want to push air into a output vent.

While using my acer mini it gets very hot to the base-what should I do?

You can get a cooling pad that's powered by a USB that your mini can sit on. I bought one for my PS2 and it works like a charm. I tended to leave the thing on all the time.
