Question about Gaggia Classic Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Hi, I have a brand new Gaggia Classic, and are having problems with the first start-up. I have followed the instructions carefully but still there are no water coming. I guess there must be some kind of vacuum in the pump? /Lars

Hi, thanks for you answer. I opened up the unit and for some reason the pump had been removed from its original location which resulted in that the tube/slang? was blocked by the weight of the pump...strange. Anyway, I just made my first espresso!!!

Hi lars_moqvist,

If this would be first time using the machine and no water comes out of filter head, there might be a connector hanging loose. The easiest way to resolve this is to open the unit and check if there's a connector hanging loose. Please plug it back onto the correct terminal. Please try to use the manual and check if it has a wiring diagram so you'll have a reference. Please look thoroughly so will spot the broken connection.

Note: Remember your safety. Please unplug the power cord of the machine before attempting any repair.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Gagging espresso maker does not pump water

Hi There,
It's either the pump or the solenoid.

When you turn of the coffee switch after there should be a discharge into the water tank - if this happens - the solenoid is blocked but the pump is not.
It is an easy fix.
( This happens when the machine has not been descaled and the solenoid is blocked.)Usually its not the pump.!

I have a brand new Classic and can't clear an airlock by following the advice in the instruction manual. Is the unit faulty?

Try to clear the airlock by having the steam knob open at the same time as the coffee switch is on.
This allows any air to come out of the group head and the steam arm.

Started up gaggia classic for the 1st time today. followed the instructions in the manual but when switching on the pump, it made ery loud noise and no hot water or steam apeared through the nozzle or...

You need to let this happen for awhile until the pump "primes" or fills all the way with water. Let the it run with the noise for awhile. Also, let it sit for at least 20 minutes before you start running the pump.

Call who ever you bought it from and have them diagnose the problem. I think you have a disconnected hose or something worse.
