Question about

I have a Whirlpool WFW 9400SW02 washer. It won't start. After pushing the power button, there are only three "beeps". The previous expert suggested me to replace the door switch, I did and the problem remains the same. This morning, I run the diagnostic and get C:00. Finally, it gave F70.

Please answer my question directly. This is a washer not a dryer.

If I disconnect the three wire cable (the bottom one on the left side when look ingfrom the top), the panel lights will light up as everything is back to normal. However, when I press on "Start", I have three beeps. Does this tell you something?

The F70 error code is indicating a loss of communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the user's interface board on the right hand side of the console.
Follow the procedure mentioned below:
1. Check for continuity of the user interface harness
2. Check the wire harness connections at the user interface board and the Central Control Unit.
3. If the unit will run and rotate before the "F70" displays usually indicate the user interface board will need to be replaced.
4. If the unit will not run and rotate usually indicates the Central Control Unit will need to be replaced.
I recommend calling a service technician to repair your washer.

Hope this helps.

It indicates there is some problem in internal wiring .I recommend checking the wiring harness connections on the door latch assembly and on the CCU. If the connections are okay, then you will likely need to replace the wiring harness.

FIRST AND FOREMOST, I want to state that the following is completely my opinion to which I have arrived after troubleshooting this problem for the last 4-5 hours.

F70 = Overheating sensed causing dryer stop until temperature reaches(drops) below set level - determined by manufacturer

Can be caused by different contributing factors;

1. poor airflow

2. blocked air flow screen inside tumbler

3. clogged lint screen

4. slow tumbler (low revolutions)

Ironically, the fourth factor has been lurking behind the popular discussions on this problem that has exhibited itself on both the whirlpool and kenmore products with the main triage to have included inspection of the electrical connections made by the installer.

These electrical connections not followed properly with accordance to '4prong' NEMA 14-30R (30amp, 2-phase circuit outlet) with separate ground and neutral posts, as exhibited in the standard dryer installation manual, will cause your tumbler to run slow. Hence, the 4th factor which caused the 'F70' code stops the dryer from operating.

Now, you have corrected the wiring as necessary and eagerly place some stuff's in there and all seems well. But as soon as you place something large and wet (HEAVY/BUNDLE), you get the error code again, Geeeezzzzz, you thought you had it!

Okay, this is what you need to do;

1. make sure your air flow is adequate by really cleaning the duct (I stuck my hand through the wall duct and scraped off old hard lint that can collect humidity & even cut my finger). Also make sure your vent hose does not have any unnecessary elbows or squiggles in it ( I had an elbow/pan type and it is not good as the heat seems to reflect too much ). KEEP IT AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE - I KNOW IT'S HARD, BUT IT IS NECESSARY.

2. Refrain from using too many softener sheets as they can & will restrict the air flow screen inside the tumbler.

3. Make sure your lint screen is clean - wash it periodically as lint particles collect moisture and this in turn raised humidity.

4. Once you have verified your electrical connections as stated earlier in this posting, run a normal cycle with towels or something of the like so as to reset the sensors in the dryer.

What my wife keeps doing is to put a back in after it's Heavy Buncle cycle (because it's not fluffy) and the dryer start up with high heat and then senses over heat and then SHE GET'S THE FAMOUS F70. In cases like this, use the damp dry selection and that works great - or better yet just use the timed dry selection with low heat.

We just have to understand that someone sat down and figured out what and how they wanted to program the computer that determines how this particular machine is going to react.

hope this helps ei5glb

Hello from what you are saying now

he F70 error apparently is a design flaw that happens to many of these machines in this series. It has something to do with a failure of the components to communicate with each other. The main circuit board most likely needs to be replaced. The user interface is simply a touchpad control. When first troubleshooting, I felt a communication error normally causes this but I too replaced the unseinterface and has to replace the control. Good Luck! Not sure if you can return. Most often you is an electronic part. If you need further assistance, feel free to visit website at

when you removed the 3wire you were only breaking a circuit but as you done so you removed the current from the circuit board as a result you received a warning with 3 beeps as i stated above this is an electronic fault and the circuit board will need to be replaced it would be wise to chuck it out and buy a new one goodluck to you

Dryer won't start

If you look closely, there are 3 separate pins that must latch. One is a simple push-button style which latches no problem.
The others are little prongs at the top and bottom of door. The bottom prong latches cleanly, but the top one will not latch because the door is a bit too flexible.
Close the door normally, then firmly press on the top edge of the door. You will hear the final latch grab, then you press and hold the start button. The dryer starts normally.

What is Error Code "F6E1"

I had the f6 e1 code flashing on Whirlpool Duet washer. It would stop midcycle and beep. I cleaned out the lint filter. This seemed to help but gradually the problem got worse. I cleaned filter again. Still beeping. I read more solution and finally found the answer! I never put the cover back on. There is a switch on the left bottom that is held in by the cover. Works fine now!

You may perform an automatic diagnostic test to check the machine functions and view any saved fault codes. Fault codes may also appear during the test when a problem is detected. Be sure the washer is in standby mode (plugged in with all indicators off, or with only the Clothes Clean or Done indicator on). Select any one button (except POWER, START, and STOP) and follow the steps below, using the same button (remember the button):

If this test mode has been entered successfully, all indicators on the console are illuminated for 5 seconds with 88 showing in the Estimated Time Remaining two-digit display.
The program then automatically checks for saved fault codes. Record the fault codes and post it back.

Press the same button used above in activating the test to advance through the automatic test steps. The basket must be floating in order to agitate. Allow step C1 to complete before advancing to the other steps. Record any fault code shown during the tests and post it back including which step the code is displayed.

You don't have to accept or reject this post in order to add comment or information. But accepting the solution should you find it helpful and/or informative will not stop you from posting comments or additional information. You can still communicate with the expert should you need further advice regarding the issue stated herein.

I just need a user manual for the whirlpool w500 front load washer

Most Whirlpool manuals are available from . However, w500 is the series and you need the model number. It will start WFW (Whirlpool front washer). Check inside the door on the rim of the washer tub for this information.

I hope this helps.

Hello, I have a Whirlpool dehumidifier Model# AD25USV (recall adjustment already complete) I have never had any technical problems or damages to the unit, and it has worked great, until...

Hello Shane

Mine won't beep at all. But try this trick I watched the guy do when he came to service mine for the recall they had and push Humid button fan button and power button first hold the first two then push the power button and hold all three for awhile. What this did for him was verify all systems working all the lights came one in sequence.

I do this to mine and will beep twice and nothing else. I've taken mine apart to check the fuse and it's still good so there must be a component that is not working.

On the back of your unit you will find a 800 number which will get you in touch with Trans Global Service which serviced it for the recall.

Control board malfunctioning.

You can try tripping the breaker a half dozen times or so, or else leave it unplugged/without power for a couple days. Once it is plugged back in you may have to leave it overnight and then try it, but that almost always revives it. I notice the problem when I don't use the washer/dryer once a week or don't push any buttons during that time to activate it in some way. Problem seems to occur more frequently in the winter when house is cooler.

Whirlpool Duet will come on but wont start on any cycle!

Does it beep at you three times when you push the start button? If so it is most likley the door latch. If not then there is problem with the user interface board or the ccu and both are expensive parts and you may want a tech to come out and verify which you need.

Whirlpool Duet front load washer won't start

The error codes it is showing don't even exist. Does the little round door latch plunger go in and out if you push it?If not, then replace the door latch. If so, you most likely have a bad machine control. Please contact me if you need further help or leave feedback if appropriate as that is how I get paid. Thanks for letting me help you!
