I have a Hot Point side by side refrigerator and the refrigerator is not getting cool. The model number is HSS22IFMB WW

DO not fill with freon,, first remove inner back panel of freezer unit.
If the coils are frozen over, you will need to unplug and manually de-frost with either time, or help from a fan.

DO NOT attempt to physically remove ice from the unit.

Check the rear compressor coil for dirt and dust and clean.

    Empty the ice-maker.

When this is all done, replace the panels and parts.
Set both cold controls to 5.
Plug in, and wait for unit to stabilize. If it gets gets cold, the problem is in the defrost circuit, NOT freon or the compressor.

The first thing to check is if you can hear the fan running inside the freezer. This not only keeps the whole freezer cold it alspo circulates air down to the refrigerator keeping it cool as well.

Fridge part working freezer not

The fridge is just the end of the freezer evaporator. If the freezer isn't cold inside, check the rear panel. It is probably frozen solid with no air getting through. Switch off, leave doors open for 24 hours and be prepared for lots of water to come out. Clean the condenser and make sure the fan inside is ok. Reset the thermostat to middle of the range and be sure to come back to tell us how you get on.

I have a ge side by side fridge model number GSH22JFXL ww and the freezer is working great but the fridge is not cold at all.

If the freezer is working great and you don't have frost build up on your coils (this would be a defrost problem) and your fan is running in the freezer, then first check your control settings.

put both your freezer and refrigerator controls in the middle position. your refrigerator gets its cold air from the freezer. the freezer control is actually the thermostat control. this controls the compressor. the refrigerator control is basically an air damper that allows more or less air in from the freezer.

by placing both controls on 9, you may think that you are turning both controls wide open when you are actually making the compressor run longer yet the air damper is keeping that cold air mostly in the freezer.

allow 24 hours for stabilization

Hotpoint fridge problem, warm fride, but freezer working good

Fridge along bottom shelves is much colder than the very top shelf which has milk etc., leading to spoilage. Fridge is at highest setting. In the upper left rear of the fridge compartment, is a cover for what I believe to be a circulatory fan. However, trying to remove this cover is difficult.
It seems that the clip nuts to which the two (2) small capscrews fasten are free wheeling and not allowing me easy access to the motor.

Please advise.

My model no. is HSS221FMD WW

Fridge isn't cold

if the compressor is running your ref. should be getting cold. Their is a defrost timer but when it is in defrost the compressor shuts off. I think you do have a leak.

Refrigerator not cooling

Check in the freezer section by removing the food exposing the rear inside panel. DO you see frost beginning to build upon the rear inside panel of your freezer section? If so, the is a simple defrost problem and can be repaired easily. For testing purpose, st both control to the middle setting and do not move them during the entire testing period. Moving the controls only makes things worse.... Let me know what you find....
