If you could see the picture on the screen before taking it, there was something seriously wrong with your D60, which apparently now seems to have fixed itself. The D60 doesn't have the LiveView feature which allows you to use the screen instead of the viewfinder to compose your picture.

How do i delete multiple photos (by the hundreds) from my nikon d60 camera? what i only know is i select the photos one by one...is there a way i can delete them by category or by date for example or by...

The best way to do it is remove your card and put it in a computer"s card reader. After the card is opened up and you can see the pictures, click on 1 picture then push Ctrl and A. This will select all the photos on the card. Then simply press delete. If you are not looking to delete all of them, you can click a picture you want to delete, then press Ctrl while clicking any other pictures you want to delete. After finished, simply press delete on your keyboard.

There is no way on the D60 that (I am aware of) to delete multiple pics straight from the camera without going to each individual one.

Sreen on back of camera doesn't show anything. We have to use view finder to aim camera. Any suggestions

You can't use the screen for framing/composition, the D60 does not have Live View.
Only D90 and D300 have it

Nikon D60 is suddenly taking very dark pictures

I have had "dark pictures" from each of my Nikon DSLR (D70, D80, D200, D300) cameras usually when taking pictures from a tripod and/or the self timer. Situations where you take your eye away from the viewfinder which allows stray light to enter thru the viewfinder and throw the auto exposure way off. Not sure if this is what is happening to you.

Nikon D60 and a box on the screen

i am assuming that you are not talking about the "shooting info display on page 9 of the manual.
if it is the Photo info (sounds most likely) you can change that display by scrolling you can change your display by using the multi selector. From that screen i believe you hit the left tab by the okay key twice. Play around. when you get the display you want. just leave it alone and they will all display that way. That happened to me during a soccer game.. very frustrating.. see no way to lock it.

I use first time nikon d60.

it would depend on the lighting. you can lower down your shutter speed, or change the white-balance or aperture on the camera. make sure that your camera is set on manual. hit me back on the results.
