Question about Motorola Mobility MOTOROKR T505

1 Answer

I pretty sure I'm going to buy a Motorola T505 (reading reviews). However, I'm not sure of a lot of things as this will be a first purchase & I need a speaker phone (hands free) that goes on my visor (don't want it to hang in front of where air or heat comes out), & don't want it stuck to windshield to obstruct any view, nor stuck to my dashboard. Want it portable, no wire connections, etc. I tried the Jabra that just plugs in to your phone & comes out on the radio - it was not loud enough for me to hear while sitting still. I am deaf in 1 ear so cannot use an ear piece. One thing I really, & most of all need to know is do I need to plug in something like the Jabra to communicate with the Motorla T505? And, if so, is it a round plug in (I have a hole where you can insert an earpiece - I have an old cell & wouldn't change it for the world, it's an LG VX6000...& that brings up another question...is this compatible with my cell?). I haven't been able to find a drawing or simple instructions on how this is set up - remotely? But how? Through radio, through a device plugged in to my cell? Or what? I don't have local stores that carry a variety of these so have to buy on-line & need to ask all the questions I can before I purchase one. Please give me any other advice that I may need to know.

Above I stated Jabra & I meant Jupiter.

After hours of reading I decided I was stuck with a Jupiter Jack (Radio Shack carries them) which has weak reception & both parties sound like they're talking in a tunnel, & your cell must be very close to the radio - instructions stated 3 ft, but I tried it & it's more like 2 ft. I hate to do this but it's better than nothing. I will go to Radio Shack Monday.

Then I had a problem on the mount I wanted/needed. But found & ordered Pro Clip mount that's specifically made for my yr. model & my model phone (& few other yrs/cells) that slides in to the side seam by the radio (it's 2 pieces, a mount & holder-the also have other mounts like vent mounts, etc) & it will keep the Jupiter less than 2 ft away. Just thought you'd like this info. in case you run up against this question again. One of the main things that made up my mind on the Pro Clip is I never just have my visor up, or just down, so a visor clip really wouldn't work unless I wanted to reposition the clip according to if the visor was up or down, & definately didn't want something magnetic to possibly interfer with the phone battery. And, I don't want my vision impaired with a window mount or dash mount, nor do I want the sticky stuff on my dash, cup holder type would be in my way & is also bulky, then heaven forbid having it on my air vents as that would mean my cell would get over heated or nearly frozen. The area around my radio is very compact & only something 1 inch wide will work & my cell is larger than that. So with about 12 hrs. of research, hopefully I've found the perfect soluction.

By the way, I've had a very expensive SmartPhone & gave it to my 12 yr old grandson (long nails don't help when trying to locate names on my contact list as I really needed to be able to use my finger, so had to use a pencil eraser, & the voice command kept giving me names I didn't want/say...plus extra steps to get to what I wanted do. I also tried a Casio clamshell & camera was worse than what I had...my camera took better pictures...& Verizon sold it to me then I find out I couldn't order batteries, etc. as it was discontinued [which they neglected to tell me - returned it for both reasons & got 100% refund). For a basic phone with a half way decent camera you can't beat an LG VX6000 - it just lacks a speaker phone, which I hopefully have solved the problem.

Forgot to state in my previous comment, my cell has an audio outlet that's 3.5 or less. Adding a lot of extras is not what I wanted to do as they added up to becoming larger than the phone.

My previous comment was very detailed & posted it as an answer. I think I've solved my problem.

Well, I have this marvellous car kit for a couple of years. It worked just fine with my old Acer Tempo M900 (WM6.1) phone, and, presently, is serving me just perfectly, paired with my Motorola Defy (Android Eclair). But, bear in mind that these phones of mine have bluetooth radios buit-in. On the other hand, as far as I know, the LG VX6000 of yours seems to lack this feature. It's not clear to me, after reading its interactive user guide, whether it has an audio socket (e.g. a standard 3.5mm or a less common 2.5mm one, in diameter) or not. In case it does, you would need to search the market for an audio adapter which bears, at least, the A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) bluetooth profile, and, besides, whose pairing code is '0000 (four zeros), which you would connect to your phone's audio socket. Otherwise, i.e. if it lacks an audio socket, ,I'm afraid you would have to switch to another phone, in case you want to use the T505 that bad. If so, choose a phone with buit-in bluetooth functionality. You must have already read on many reviews of this car kit, that it picks up music from your phone through stereo bluetooth (A2DP), and broadcasts it through an empty FM frequency, to be tuned in by your car's antenna.
Please, let me know if you need further informations about it.
Regards, Carlos

My LG Shine phone will not pair up with my new Motorola Bluetooth device. (T505) I've tried everything!!

Motorola blue-tooth devices are mostly meant for Motorola phones. This particular device is restricted to be used by Motorola phones. No matter how hard you try the devices will not pair because they are not compatible.
There are certain blue-tooth devices which are universally acceptable by all types of mobile phones but the MotoRokr T505 as it is dubbed by Motorola is restricted to Motorola phones.
Sorry for any inconveniences.

I have a nokia n85 and can't seem to connect it to the motorokr t505. i'm wondering if it is because of the type of phone?

Start with the T505 turned off. Make sure the blueooth radio of all devices which were previously paired to the T505 are turned off too. Try to press and hold the power button of the T505 for 3 seconds. It should power up, and start to search for previously paired devices. If it can't find them, it'll enter the pairing mode (its led will be solid lit). Now, make the bluetooth application on your N85 search for new devices. Select the T505 from the list. If a pairing code (or passkey, or PIN) is requested, enter '0000' (four zeros).
Hope it works for you.
Cheers! Carlos
PS: the T505 should also go to pairing mode if your press and hold both volume keys for 5 seconds.

To modify T505 configuration settings, enter setup mode by pressing and holding the Call button while powering up. The main indicator is steadily lit in green to indicate your T505 is in setup mode.
