My sherwood rx 4109 has no sound what do i do

Pull the sherwood power cord from the wall for 20 minutes. On the back of sherwood, check all cables and make sure they are in the correct places. Check speaker wires and make sure they are connected. 1)After 20 minutes, turn power on to sherwood. 2) select an input (radio, cd, etc.) 3) Push play. 4) Turn volume to desired level.

Sherwood RX-4105 Amp won't power on.

HI,

You will have to check the fuse. There probably is a fuse next to where the power cord goes into it. It will look like a little round black cap. It may be necessary to push on it and twist it in order to get it out. It will be marked on the case with a number followed by the letter "A", that being the fuse rating in amperes.

Is the Phono output on the RX4109 considered a preamp output in to a Power Amp?

The phono connection is an INPUT and it is a low impedance circuit. It is easily overdriven because the signal that goes into it is very small. You plug a record player into it. Any pre-amp connections on an audio device are in place after equalizer controls. There are no pre-amp connections on the Sherwood.

How do I connect my RX-4109 to a Crown power Amp?

If your Sherwood has preamp outputs, you can connect directly to the power amp inputs.

I have a Sherwood Nottingham R-925RDS receiver. No matter what input I select it does not connect to the amplifier section. Everything else appears to function ok. Unit switches on & off, correct...

Let's work with FM as that is ONboard and can't be connected wrong. Does THAT work?

Turn the volume control to something medium.

The errant switch, control or condition may change and you will suddenly release the amp's full power and possibly destroying your speakers. If a signal isn't audible at 1/2 volume it's probably not there.

Carefully examine the front panel for clues like a misplaced Mute or Tape Monitor control or Multichannel Analog Input selected.

There is a good chance that a common control may have developed a high-resistance or 'dead' spot through idleness and is causing your symptom. Turn the POWER OFF and operate every control throughout its range a number of times, especially rarely-used ones like Tape Monitors and the Mute control.

Turn the volume to something reasonable and see if that helped.

SHERWOOD RECEIVER 6108. I don't have the remote. Are some funtions only available by using the remote? When I plug it in I have standby mode but no florescent display, when I press the audio button on...

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Is there a way of connecting my ipod to my sherwood cd player?

The answer isn't with the CD player, it's with the amp.
Does the amp have selectable inputs, or does it just have one input for each channel?

If it's a simple power amp, then you'll have to unplug the CD player and connect your iPod to the amp inputs. I'm guessing that the CD player connects to the amp with RCA (phono) connectors like these ones.
If that's the case, you can get a cable (like this one at Radio Shack, but any office supply store will have one too) to connect your iPod to the amp.

no listing for Sherwood receiver. must do the remote "search" function. here is how:
  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. On the remote control, press TV once.
  3. Then press and hold SETUP until the TV key blinks twice, then release the SETUP key.
  4. Using the number pad, enter 9-9-1. The TV key will blink twice.
  5. Aim the remote control at the TV and slowly alternate between pressing Power and TV. Stop when the TV turns off after pressing the POWER key. This means that a working code has been found.
  6. Press the SETUP key once to lock in the code. The TV key will blink twice.
Hope that helps!

Connecting remote cable to other port from the car stereo

You can tap the amplifier's remote wire into the accessory power lead at the back of the head unit. On most head units this is a red wire. Doing this will make your amplifier turn on and off with the key switch, rather than the deck power.
