Question about Acer H233H bmid Monitor

1 Answer

I now have 2 H233H monitors that both have the same Problem. The cheap power switch has failed because the plastic ears have broken off of the button on both of them. Is there some kind of a fix for this? ie a newer version of the switch with a slightly different button design?

I took my soldering iron and melted nylon-plastic to the plastic (nylon) ears and plastic button which is also nylon. I now have a permanent and stronger plastic weld than what was made at the factory.
Repair shop wanted $125 dollars. I fixed it with weed-eater nylon string and soldering iron. Start at button first, after having a small glob of melted nylon on tip of iron. Then spread it to plastic ears, all the way back to the spot where ears attach to black trim piece. Good luck

I opened mine up, realigned the button and put a piece of clear packing tape across the front. The packing tape keeps the button from spinning and it works again.

H233h replace power button

On/off switch is fairly common to fail, If you have old tower remove switch, if not contact Acer's customer support and technical department, but they may want to sell you a complete case rather than the switch, also I would try a computer repair store, they may give you a case, or sell you a new one at a reduce price.

Why is my acer lcd monitor model H233H continuing to blink on the on off button and the screen is black?

Look for bad caps with domed top in the power supply/inverter board, very common on ACER and all other brands as shown in my albums.

How to open the case of Acer H233H monitor? Power is stuck in my monitor and it does not turn on.

After removing the base and all the screws, I use thin flat blade screw driver to separate the front and the back of the monitor at the bottom edge and work your way around, not much you can do without scratching the case since it uses a lot of thin plastic fingers to hold the monitor together like a hook which snap together real easy but hard to separate.

Right arrow button isn't sensing my touch

It can be the switch is broken or the ribbon cable may have come lose during shipping, the problem is the way the caseis put together with plastic snap-clips which can easily be broken during diassembly of the case, you may also leave some scratch marks during opening also, the seller may not like that and may not honor any warranty.

Dimension E510 LCD Monitor with broken power switch

Hi,

Thanks for responding. Nothing happened when you pressed in the power button and the warranty had expired; Dell was no help so don't bother. I read that there were tab(s) on the plastic power button that had broken off and no longer engaged the power switch. I "solved" my monitor problem by drilling through the plastic case between the power button and the minus button, pulled out the plastic power button and pressed the switch with a flat screwdriver to turn on the monitor. Now I leave the power on all the time and put a piece of black masking tape over the space where the power button was. Not the best solution I'm sure, the hole isn't pretty, but it works. If anyone else wants to try this solution be careful when you drill through the plastic case because the switch you want to engage occupies the space between the buttons, exactly where you are drilling. If you drill through the switch you might as well throw the monitor into the recycle bin. I expected to find an actual button switch and was surprised to find a flat, 2 prong circuit switch instead. Good luck to all.

Broken plastic function button replacement?

Looks more like the tact switches inside the unit are history and have to be replaced. The switches are relatively cheap $2-$3 each, but replacing them inside the monitor needs some skills...;)
