Press DEL to enter setup and set Reset to Defaults in Exit menu. If you have USB keyboard, make sure you enable Legacy USB and USB keyboard settings, save and exit and reboot.

no keyboard detected. fatal error... system halted = your keyboard is dead, replace it. If you get the same message after a new keyboard then the PS2 connector is dead, you will have to use an USB keyboard.

A keyboard will work in the S2 port which will allow you to enter the bios.
It sounds as though the onboard battery has failed. Without a new battery, you will be able to change the bios settings but they won't be saved so you'll keep getting the error message when you boot up.

Asus M2N keyboard problem

You don't need a driver for a PS/2 keyboard nor a USB keyboard. The keyboard lights should lite up at post. After boot press the Caps Lock key and it will light the corresponding light on the keyboard if the controller works. If not it is the motherboard. If you are strapped for bucks get a mobo that can use the same cpu, RAM and drives. Good luck, Steve Medley
