Question about Polaroid PDR302 Digital Voice Recorder

2 Answers

Dear Expert, I recorded lectures from a class and have put them on my computer (a macbook laptop) and for some reason I can only get half of them to play... As far as I know I recorded them the same way, but the ones that will play are saved on my Polaroid device as WAV while the ones that will not play (except on the device itself) are saved as a VOC file. Is there a way I can convert these VOC files to WAV? Or what other recommendations might you suggest so that I can have these lectures (which are extremely important to me!) saved in a more permanent and playable way rather than just being on the device itself... ? Thank you SOOOOOO much for any help you can give! -Katie

Go to Media-Convert's website. This online conversion program can convert between many different audio types, including VOC to WAV.

Browse for the VOC file you would like to convert on your computer. The "Browse" button is located under the "Local File Conversion" tab next to "File." When you click "Browse," it will bring up a search window. Locate the file on your hard drive and click "Open." Media-Convert will automatically fill in "Soundblaster file (.voc)" in the "Input format" box.

Select the output file type. Once Media-Convert detects the VOC file, the "Output format" menu will automatically populate with available audio file types. WAV appears in the list as "WAVE form audio format (.wav).

Name the WAV file. There is a box labeled "Rename file to" in the "Advanced settings" section just below the "Output format" box. Type the name for your file into the box.

Click "OK" to accept the terms. The "OK" button is directly across from the "Output format" box. When you click "OK," the conversion will begin. The progress will be monitored by percentage on the screen and when the conversion has completed, Media-Convert will take you to a new screen with a link to download the file. Click on the link and choose "Save as..." to save the file to your computer.

Im trying to videotape lectures for an upcoming class. i have an acer aspire with windows 7.

The webcam on any notebook is designed for use near the camera and not from a distance.
The webcam will not be able to record and details like words written on a whiteboard or chalkboard in a way that it will be visible when playing back. Additionally, the microphone will not be able to capture the spoken words very well if the lecture hall if large.
You would be better off borrowing or buying a camcorder that has a zoom lens and shotgun mic and a tripod and recording the lecture that way.

I have a Macbook Air with Microsoft Word Home and Student 2008 installed on it. I use the audio recording feature on in Word to take notes in lectures, but since the internal mic was not enough to capture...

In sound system preferences when the external mic is plugged in, there is a drop down menu in the input tab that says "Use the audio port for:" make sure it says input.

How do I operate my Philips go-gear 8GB mp4 player. Serial # RK1H1051038306, model # 06095819004. I can't make out the users manual. What I am tying to do is, transfer my class lectures, recorded in mp3...

I have a Philips go-gear 4GB player. There is no charger included. To charge the player, use any firewire/USB cable and connect the device to a PC or laptop. While the device is charging, the battery icon is blinking. When it is fully charged, the battery icon will stay static.

To copy to the device, open Windows explorer. Look for the Philips Go-gear folder icon. Open the Philips folder and Copy you music files inside the device's my music folder. If the file is video, copy the file in the my video folder.

Once the device is fully charged, disconnect the device by right-clicking on the Safely Remove Hardware icon on lower right portion of your PC screen. Select Safely remove hardware then Choose the philips go-gear device to eject.

Power on the device then use the navigation keys to select the files you like to play. Click ok or the play button.

Not playing full recording

Maybe it's the preview play option of the player that you are using. It only plays a part of the recording for you to identify if it is the right recording that you are trying to find because the recorded allows you to record more than one file.
