What is error code 136 on a fisher & paykel IW709AU top load washer

136 fault is 'motor stall'...Quite often this is a broken wire to the motor. However it could also be a Motor fault, or Rotary Position Sensor problem. Water damage can cause this fault as well. After a visual check for broken wires or water damage, and if your machine is in good condition, you should consider a tech....Good luck...Nomess

How old is my washer? When were these made?

You need a serial number to tell for sure.
They probably stopped making those a few years ago.
And the oldest one I've seen it about 10 years old. So probably between 2-10 years old.

GE G-136-0 won't agitate

Either you solved this prob or not but the solution is the lid closure safety switch (the white thing in the oblong whole located at 2 o'clock on the rim of the top as you look into the washer from the top down into the tub.
The mechanism of the switch is poorly designed and breaks free causing the switch not to operate properly.
You need to lift lid (there are 4 bar spring catches front and back holding entire top of washer - thin metal to puch them in and gently lift each cormer then lift topfrom front like it is on hinges in back). I used a nylon wire tie to surround the wire ling close to the white thing and fastened it to the top of the machine with a pop rivit. Works like a charm.
email me if you need to fix it (but you probably have already or thrown it out)

If your washer has a white plastic tub, look on the back edge as you look over the top of the washer. If your washer has a dark metal tub, try looking on the front lower corner of the left side panel.
