Can't accept my hdmi cable via laptop, keeps saying no signal

Are you enabling the external display feature? The HDMI must be enabled from the laptop keyboard before it will output. This is done with the "Fn" Key (lower left next to Windows key + the F5 key. This is a 3-way toggle. The default is normal screen. First toggle switches to external (HDMI), second toggle to both screens, and the third back to normal.

This excerpt from your User's Guide:

<Fn> + <F5> Display toggle
Switches display output between the display screen,
external monitor (if connected) and both.

How do i switch to external monitor

Virtually all IBM and Lenovo ThinkPad and ThinkCenter laptops allow you to hook up an additional monitor or projector to the computer. When you add an external monitor or projector to your notebook, you can choose to view the display on the computer, on the external device, or on both the laptop and the external monitor or projector at the same time. Toggling between viewing devices is as simple as pressing a couple of keys on the keyboard.

Shut down the laptop. Plug the VGA monitor cable from the external monitor or projector into the blue VGA port on the back of the computer. Turn on the external monitor or projector first, and then the Lenovo laptop. Allow the notebook to boot into Windows normally. Press the "Fn" and "F7" keys at the same time to switch the display from the laptop to the external monitor or projector. Press the "Fn" and "F7" keys again to enable the display on both the laptop and the external display device. Press the "Fn" and "F7" keys again to display screen contents only on the laptop LCD. choose support you need http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-54305.html http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-4YQHUC.html enable tv out on thinkpad http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-58625

I want to connect my HP6530b to my LCD tv. Toshiba 24PB1T Both have vga connectors. I am running Win XP Pro Is there a key combination on the laptop to enable this? Thanks

Hi
To display on external device ( such as: LCD Projector, LCD Monitor .. ) you need to tell the laptop to display on external device.

How to do that .. Just press Fn and F5,

In many cases, you need to press those keys more than once ( 3 times maximum ) to display on the external display, or both, or just the main screen.

Some times ( F1 or F3 ) instead of (F5).

Please, Tell us your results.
Good Luck

I TRIED TO CONNECT MY LAPTOP TO AN HD TV VIA THE HDMI PORT

Most probably it will be enough to press Fn + F5 to change the display output. Pressing this combination sequentially toggles between 3 settings usually:
Internal LCD
External output
LCD and external simultaneously.

The external-only option is the best, as it will give you an option to set a screen resolution suitable/optimum for your TV, as oposed to the resolution of your internal LCD display, which is optimum for your display, but doesn't use the full capabilities of your TV.

Good luck, and please come back with a testimonial/rating if helped.

When i plug in to s-video port on my toshiba m45-s169 laptop to my television it doesnt work.how do i enable the port?

Change the display settings on the laptop to 800x600 - right click on the desktop > properties > advanced tab You will need to select TV out to enable that function use the FN key and the F5 key together and each time you press it will toggle through an output, not necessarily in this order
❖ Built-in display panel only ❖ Built-in display panel and external monitor simultaneously ❖ External monitor only ❖ Built-in display panel and external video device simultaneously (This should be SVideo TV out) ❖ Other external video device only (This should be SVideo TV out)
Press the FN key and the F5 key 4 times
On the TV you will need to select the TV input for the S-Video connector - This may be by selecting an Input AV1, AV2, AV3 etc - without the make and model of the TV I cannot say which to select
Here are some instructions on how to use S-Video - it covers a number of laptops including Toshiba http://www.svideo.com/compaq1700.html
This is a link to the Toshiba support site for that laptop http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=1130627&rpn=PSM43U&modelFilter=M45-S169&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663

Set up TV as monitor for laptop with Fedora

Try pressing the function key and the monitor key (Fn+ F key). This will cycle through the display modes (Internal monitor, external display, or both). Your monitor key will look like one of the following: 5eab006.jpg009092c.jpg41a2ff0.jpgUsually after you reboot the default setting should be to run the internal display only. Your monitor could possible have gone out, possible the LCD panel or the backlight.

While passing video thru from HP 9000DV to tv,,how can I turn off display on pc

The external VGA port is enabled by holding the Fn key down and pressing the F4 key at the same time. There are three modes that can be toggled through:
  • Internal Display only
  • Internal Display and External Display
  • External Display only
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
