Question about Volkswagen Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

The radio/CD player won't hold a station (or CD song), but jumps down two settings. I tried setting my radio two settings up from my fav stations and that works sometimes but then it might not jump or jumps down four! CD it moves all over from song to song. This is a 2007 Passat. Is it toast?

Don't think that's it. It happens all the time where ever I am (I drive within about a 100 mile radius) and just started a couple of weeks ago. Whatever station I listen to, AM or FM, it can't hold the signal for very long. And why is it effecting my CD player? Sounds mechanical/electrical to me. We have a radio station devoted to traffic announcements that's AM.

The radio was standard with the new Passat. I can go look in my owner's guide for what type it is.

One possible reason for this problem is a radio station that transmits Traffic announcement (TA or TI). This is a service for providing traffic details but has to used for short periods of time, as long as the traffic announcement is active. This procedure takes control of your radio or cd player to play the tune to the radio station that sent the TA information. Depending on the country that you live in, I suggest you to disable this info. This can be done by pressing the TA or TI button on your tuner.

In case of a problem or clarification or further details needed, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer. Also I'd like to know the brand / model of your car audio system.
If you are satisfied, accept my solution.

There is no traffic announcement at the AM band. The traffic announcement affects only FM band radio and CD player. If this is not your case, check all the connectors to verify there is nothing loosy, especially the power connectors and the antenna one. Check also the external aerial connector at the car body (if any).
