Mine shuts off anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute after being powered back on. Sound is fine prior to shutting off. Eliminated suggestions on p71 of the manual then took it to a Denon service agent. Going to be without it at least a couple of weeks. :( Been working fine for 18 months.

I have the same problem. It has worked fine for about two years, but recently sound on various speakers have begun to fade in and out. When I first turned it on this morning, it immediatley turned off and I got the blinking red ring. It's not overheated and I reconnected all the speakers to make sure the wires weren't touching. Any other suggestions?

When I turn on my receiver, it automatically turns off and the power button flashes red. Prior to shut down, the receiver display notes "Tuner Ext. In" What's the problem? It has worked p

Protection circuit turns off the unit because of critical conditions- wrong power supply voltages or one of the power amplifier channels is bad. First, visual inspect the power amp board near the heat sink for burned resistors, test outputs for a short. If there are no problem you may try to turn the unit on and you have several second before it shuts down to check power supply voltages and power amp output voltages and bias, then ... Long story you'd better take it to a repair shop or repair at ebcelectronics.com

Try unplugging the entire unit and letting it sit for 5 minutes. See if this helps. If not, you need to do a complete reboot, which will cause you to lose your settings, but will probably solve your problem. To do a complete reboot, you will need to hold down two of the front bottons on the front panel. I'm not sure which, so either consult your manual or see other posts here which describe the reboot process for Denons. Hope this helps.

My denon avr-1906 amp will not turn on correctly. When the standby button is pressed the indication surrounding the button flashes green but when you hear the relay click in for presumably the power amp,...

The amp is shutting down to prevent further damage. This is what is sometimes referred to as protect mode. There is a problem with the final stage of the amplifier. The most common parts that fail are the output transistors. Figure on $15-$40 in parts plus the local labor rate for the total repair cost.

Check to make sure the +/- speaker output wires aren't touching. I've had this problem before with frayed speaker wire strands poking out & intermittently shorting to the other polarity speaker output. This amazing receiver actually continued to play at low volume levels, but if I turned it up it would shut down similar to how you are reporting. I cleaned up the frayed wires & this fixed thr problem. Good luck

Power on problem

Time for a little repair here. It seems that one or more channels have developed an excessive drain on the supply, and has caused the threshold to trip and shut you down. It's more than likely shop time at this point....accordianman
