How to download from an Olympus x-940 digital camera to my pc

First set the USB Connection in the settings menu to Storage.
Then use the supplied USB cable to connect the camera to your computer. Power on the camera and it will come up as a removable drive similar to using a thumb drive. Or use a card reader.

I can not view or retrieve my pictures from my camera. SD card was write protected. I fixed that but it still won't let me have my pictures. Please help. These are pictures of my grandbabies. Thanks

Check the camera's menu and set the camera as "drive" (like flash drive) from the menu. The computer should be recognize your camera as a mass drive when you connect it with its USB cable.

My computer isnt recognizing my camera

Change the USB Configuration setting to Disk Drive in the Setup Menu. This allows the camera to appear as another disk drive on the computer so that you can easily copy the image files from the camera to the computer hard drive.

I am trying to upload photos onto my computer from my camera, but when I open the program it shows that I have no photos. When I turn on my camera to view to pictures, they are all there. How can I get the...

Often in the cameras Setup menu there is an option to be set that makes the camera behave in one of two ways when it is plugged into the computer.

The setting is usually called USB:
The options are, "Disk Drive" and "Camera".

Disk Drive is what you want, so the camera behaves like a flash disk and shares your pictures with the computer when it is plugged in.

Camera mode, will make your camera behave like a web cam attached to your computer.

Finding this setting will requre the correct Mode the camera is in, (probably Review), and the correct menu, often there are different tabs for camera settings and picture taking settings.

Hope this helps.

My computer won't recognize my camera when I try to load photos

Two Possibilities:

1) There's no driver installed, or the installation failed. ( A notification will say so when you plug it in ). Be shure the driver is setup properly.

2) The setting on the camera is set to "WebCam" and not "USB Disk"

In the settings menu, (Not the photo menu) on the camera there will be a USB Function option; this sets the camera up to behave like a cardreader and set the plugged in camera as an aditoional disk drive.
The other setting for the USB Function is "Web Cam" or "Digital Camera"; this will set the plugged in camera to behave as a USB Web Camera accessable to tv tuners or other recording or chat software.

To test, open the "My Computer" display of available hard drives, Disc Drives, Floppy Drives, and Memory Card Drives, then plug in the camera into the USB connector. A USB signal sound will alert you and a new drive should appear on the My Computer list, that's the camera.

If you don't get a new drive, then unplug the USB connector and enter the Menu on the camera, look for a USB function menu and set it to Disk drive, or whatever is not Web Cam function.

Note: This is for PC, and not Apple type computers, but I'm shure an Apple computer would be similar.

Cheers.
Richard.

Can you tell me were i can get cd

Uh...what came with the HP 618 was photo editing software. What are trying to do? If it's to download your pictures go into the camera's menu and set it up as a drive. Then plug in the camera via USB, turn it on and set the selector switch to PC. XP will see it as another drive and you can access your pictures like any other drive.
