Question about Heating & Cooling
If I understand it correctly, the pilot light will light and burn, but when you turn the Control Knob to the ON position either the burner won't light? My question is, doe the pilot stay lit or does it go out, when you do this. Also, is this a Vented or Vent-free Gas log Stove?
If it's vent-free, the Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) which is part of the Pilot needs cleaning. As, it may be clogged with dust, lint & pet hair and it's sensing that there is not enough oxygen for safe combustion. The other issue tis relative to the pilot assembly, is whether this unit has a millivolt control valve and the Thermopile has failed. The Thermopile controls the opening and closing of the gas valve when you turn the Control Knob or ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
If it's a Vented unit, the same thing applies to the Thermopile.
It would also be wise to check the amount of gas you have in your tank. It may be to low to sustain combustion of the burner(s), but has just enough to keep the pilot burning.
Hope this helps you to Troubleshoot the problem. If it does please leave me a positive approval.
