The lines and funky graphics you may be experiencing are simple graphical errors. this is still primarily a Leopard issue, and downgrading will solve it. also keeping your spell effects and other visual settings low will help keep it under control. When you see a graphical error, you can type in-game /console gxreset.....

You may need to update the drivers of your video/graphics card, better, if you have a graphic utility, (like the one default on Intel) have it updated too.

Black emac screen

Hi, this could be a number of things but the most likely cause is probably the leaking capaitor syndrome. At about the time these machines were made there was a flood of faulty capacitors throughout the electronics world and the factpriews that made the mother boards for the eMac were particularly badly hit.Did the screen exhibit any flashing or streaking or random freezing before the failure? Thses are typical precursors.
Unfortunately the only thing you can do is to take it to a (Apple) repair centre where they will be able to judge if it is repairable or not.The leaking capacitors quite often ruined the mother-board. If theyu were caught in time they were repairable but .......
If the eMac is still running, connect it to an external monitor and then clone your HD to a blank HD using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper.

E mac freezing all the time and won't read restore disc

Many eMacs sold between April 2004 and June 2005 are susceptible to age-related problems with freezing, startup failure, and scrambled video, due to a shipment of faulty Asian capacitors at the time they were built. Affected units include the following three serial number ranges: G8412xxxxxx – G8520xxxxxx, YM412xxxxxx – YM520xxxxxx, and VM414xxxxxx – VM518xxxxxx. The three-year extended warranty for this failure has expired. The Apple-standard fix requires motherboard replacement, probably uneconomical for this vintage machine. There are techs who will replace only the capacitors, for a lower fee.

EMac freezes quickly and regularly after startup

This model has problems with the capacitor buldging and or exploading, check under the unti where the ram goes open up that capartment if you see any capcitors exploaded or buldging then its is going to need a new logic board, Since these units are out of warranty your best bet is to scrap it.. Mac had this problem and they agreed to fix it but its been more then 4 years so if you do not have extended warranty on it your out of luck.

Dell Dimension 2400 Freezes frequently

check inside the case of the computer to make sure that the interface cable between the hard drive and the motherboard are fully connected. Also check to see if the RAM modules are fully inserted into their slots. If not, they try removing them one by one, until the computer starts up faster. If this doesn't fix it, then try a new hard drive, and interface cable.

DVD freezing

I have had the freezing problem on Sony, Insignia, Cyberhome, HP computer DVD drives, etc.
Based upon very numerous incidents (believe me, I mean hundreds) the problem occurs most frequently after about the first hour as the track moves outward from the hub (and velocity per 360 degree turning increases).(Recording is from the hub out, not from the outer edge in towards the hub). An engineer suggested that the increasing velocity creates the greater possibility of the reader "missing" a data fragment which, in turn, "freezes" the image presently in the buffer. It may "recover"
and move data along again but will probably "freeze" again.
The following definitely helps but does not always work:: Keep the track "tight" by recording actual
running time NOT longer than 30% of the maximum capacity
permitted by the selected speed. Example: On a Sony RDR GX7, I record not more than 60 mins actual time at LP speed
which, on this machine, permits a maximum capacity of 180 minutes using LP. Based on literally hundreds of DVD recordings, I can say positively that the above approach HELPS
limit the problem but it DOES NOT totally eliminate it.
I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM OTHERS, PARTICULARLY PROS, WHO HAVE INFORMATION ON THIS SUBJECT. Even reduced, the problem is irritting.
