If this is like the F410, there's a soldered back-up battery on the flexi-pcb connected to the power socket.

SOURCE: Fuji FinePix S9000 battery change clears date/time.

Hi

I started having a similar problem with my Fuji FinePix F10 after about 3 1/2 years of problem-free use. Another poster had some really helpful advice which I thought I'd pass on. It seems there is an internal battery or capacitor which basically fails after a while, meaning date/time settings etc are lost when the battery is removed. (Some people claim this is a motherboard/chip problem instead - seems to be contentious!) So the camera is faulty, but the problem can be worked around.

The advice I found, which worked for my camera, was this:

- Turn off camera and leave off for approx 15 seconds before opening battery door.
- Change battery quickly (within a few seconds).
- Close battery door and leave camera off for approx 15 secs before turning back on.

This retained all settings when I tested it multiple times. I imagine it might not work if changing over a totally dead battery though.

Hope it helps!

Theres a small back-up battery located on the main
power board. It's not a DIY project to replace this battery.

Why do I lose date/time on Fuji FinePix S6500 digital camera when I change batteries

You lose the date/time because the camera has no power to it to keep the settings. Basically don't leave the batteries out if you want it to keep the date/time. On the other hand it will just sit and run the batteries down just sitting there off. It is a bit annoying but that's why. Most cameras store an internal charge so they can keep the date/time but it is not supposed to last very long, it was designed so you could swap out dead batteries without having to reset the time/date every time. If it is happening on simple battery changes it means something may be wrong with the camera.

It seems to me the most obvious thing to look at would be the power switch. I don't think impact would damage the battery unless it cracked or punctured it - and I assume it hasn't since you haven't mentioned that.

Have you checked the switch itself for any damage, and made sure it's making contact when it's switched, and traced the leads from the switch back to the board - or even all the way to the battery? I think you'll find your problem somewhere in there.

The smaller battery should be for storing long term memory - i.e. any configurable settings. Even if that was dead, the camera would still turn on, it just wouldn't remember any settings.

I have a Fuji Finepix S7000 digital camera. I works fine, but, when the batteries get discharged, the camera looses all the "setup" info (date, time, etc...)... Is there an internal battery or something...

There is no internal battery. When the batteries become discharged or removed, the camera retains the date/time settings for about 24 hours. Most people have backup batteries fully charged so when one set is low in the camera, they can make the change quickly.

When I change batteries I loose date/time etc.

There isn't another battery built into it. From what I undersatnd once you have placed batteries into the camera or connected the AC adaptor into the camera for 2 hours the camera will retain the date/time settings for 6 hours.

If they haven't been in the camera for two hours and you remove them the camera will loose the settings. If they have been in the camera for over two hours the camera will keep the settings for 6 hours. This leads me to think that a capacitor on the board inside the camera charges up for two hours and then slowly discharges over 6. Hope this helps.

Fujifilm finepix v10 does not turn on. when plugged into the charger the red light that indicates it is charging turns on, but even then the camera itself does not turn on. a new battery has been tested,...

Fuse F351 has possibly blown on the board. It is a 2.5A 32v UL type surfacemount fuse which is soldered to the board. The fuse has a coded letter on it for identification. Recomend you find someone who knows electronics to repair

The date time problem ist he internal battery[ A watch type button inside the camera body]
has worn out- replacing it will be a workshop job.
The other problem seems like wear and tear on the switch any repair will be costly.
Just live with[out]it- or buy a new camera

Finepix 1400 info needed

No battery back-up. There is a capacitor that stores a bit of charge. This allows you to replace the batteries and still keep the date/time setting. Leaving the camera without batteries for 10 minutes will completely drain the capacitors. This will cause the date/time to reset.
