Hi, you can use the Autoruneater software to eat the Autorun.inf files in the computer.

Please download and install the Autoruneater from the below link, it's free!!!:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Autorun-Eater.shtml

Autorun.inf files are the files which are written to run the programs automatically like CD/DVD games have it to launch the installer automatically.

i already tried the autorun eater, autorun checker, autorun remover,,, those software can't detect the autorun.inf.. and when i attempt to delete it. there's a message {This is No longer located on C:\ Verify location and Try again} I Think i got this autorun.inf on my friend's flashdrive..

  • Shankar R Mar 27, 2011

The error message itself indicates that the Autorun.inf has been removed. I suggest that you use Avast! Antivirus to get rid of those issues in future too.

Delete autorun inf virus 4gb

If you have a autorun.inf virus on your memory card/USB stick the anti virus software on your PC may not allow access in order to stop it from spreading.

First you need to disable autorun feature on Windows operating system :

Follow steps in link :

http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-disable-autorun-autoplay-in-windows-7-and-windows-8/

After disabling the feature you will have access to your memory card/USB stick. The next step is to delete autorun.inf virus file hidden on your memory card/USB stick. But first you need to make the hidden virus file visible.

Follow steps in link to show hidden system files :

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/show-hidden-files-in-windows-7/

Now navigate to your memory card/USB stick you should see the autorun.inf file - DELETE IT.

(If it doesnt allow you to delete it - restart the PC in safe mode by pressing F8 on start up and choosing safe mode and try again)

Back up your files on the memory stick/USB stick to your PC and to make sure the virus is gone from the memory stick/USB format it using your PC.

Dont to forget re-hide your system files to prevent accidental deletion.

Good luck!

How to remove the scvhost.exe Virus.

Svchost.exe is the name of a generic host process for services that run from dynamic link libraries (DLLs). A variety of worm malware programs spread a similarly named file Scvhost.exe via Yahoo! Messenger that blocks the Task Manager and Registry Editor, as well as use of the command prompt.

Warning
Manual removal of Scvhost.exe may be very difficult as the removal process requires knowledge of the Operating System's command prompt and Registry Editor. If not performed properly, your computer system might experience permanent damage. Consequently, manual removal might be best for experienced users. I am unable to delete Rahul'virusprotection.vbe and Autorun.inf in my pen drive .Sometimes deteled again immediatly come to my pendrive

Please follow these steps to Remove Virus using Command Promt:

Click the "Start" menu and type "CMD" into the "Run" box and click "OK."

Select the drive that is infected with the virus. If you are not sure which drive is infected, start with the "C:" drive. Type in "C:" and press "Enter" to access this drive.

Type the following into the command prompt box: - s - h *. * /s /d and press "Enter." This will bring up any suspicious files located on the drive. Open the suspicious file.

Look for a file that contains a ".exe" file and a file titled "autorun.inf." If you find these two files, you have found the tainted file. Make sure to write down the name of the program where the file is located.

Rename the "autorun.inf" so you can access the drive later without activating the virus. Type: rename autorun.inf as virusfile and close out of the "Command" prompt box.

Double-click the "My Computer" icon and select the drive that has the infected file. Find the program that contains the infected file.

Right-click on the program and choose "Open."

Right-click on the file you renamed "virusfile" and choose "Delete."

Right-click on the ".exe" file and choose "Delete." You have now removed the virus from your computer's hard drive.

you have to stop Autorun feature of your windows which kicks in when we connect any new storage device first, then you will be able to format the drive and start fresh.

Steps to remove autorun:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967715
(restart your computer first without the pen drive and then start the below procedure)
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following entry in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionpoliciesExplorerNoDriveTypeAutorun
  3. Right-click NoDriveTypeAutoRun, and then click Modify.
  4. In the Value data box, type 0xFF to disable all types of drives. Or, to selectively disable specific drives, use a different value as described in the "How to selectively disable specific Autorun features" section.
  5. Click OK, and then exit Registry Editor.
  6. Restart the computer.

Cannot format my pendrive

Why don't you boot up with the OS bootable CD with the pen drive attached. In DOS mode give the format command to the Pen Drive. It should work. You can use the win98 boot CD, it has more DOS commands available than the later Bootable OS's. Alternatively log in as administrator and use the disk management tool to delete the partion than make it a logical drive and format it as you like......sodeep
