There are differences between American English and British English. For instance, the Americans drop the "o" in words like - Honour / honor, armour / armor, favour / favor, etc.The USA already speak English, so your question does not make any sense
Yes You can Scan a Word and edit it. But I should say it is not very easy job. It is very Time consuming.
plus you will need special third party tools to actually properly format it in the original manner.
The problem is after scanning any document, the scanned document is considered as an IMAGE file. And Image files are hard to format like word 2003
But this process is not impossible
