If your laptop shows only "beep" sound without loading any to the monitor, try to turn off and remove ram from the laptop, cleans it by eraser and put it back again. Try to reopen, if it could not boot up normally, may be there are something wrong on the windows.

My computer has 3 beeps followed by 4 beeps and it is not displaying on the screen

Sounds like a bios error code. If you have a store brand PC like HP, Dell, Gateway there will be a section describing the beep codes, some manufacturers also have a series of 4 led lights on the back of the PC that correspond to different problems. Have you recently added RAM or other components to your PC?

Ibm thinkpad r52 no hard drive detected

The hard drive may have dislodged from the HD terminal. Some early laptops didn't reinforce the connection here. There is a bay under the laptop with a HDD or O)) symbol that opens with a small Phillips screwdriver. There should only be 2-4 screws on the bay panel. Open the bay. The hard drive should be firmly connected to the computer. Make sure the connection is good, then replace the bay cover and screws.

Start up the computer...Update the post on your outcome.

No display .. getting three short beeps, pause, one shot beep, pause, four short beeps, pause and another three short beeps.

It's the sound produced by motherboard stating that motherboard is not able to detect the RAM,open the laptop and remove the RAM and clean with a white paper slowly and insert it properly.check it solve your problem otherwise if you have another RAM slot available then try that too. if none work replace with a NEW RAM this will solve your problem

let me know if it's helpful to you

Can not hear sound

The thinkpads have a sound key on the keyboard. usually operated by holding down the FN key and pressing the key with the (think its blue) speaker symbol on it. Make sure this is on and the volume is turned up.

Also check that the volume under the Sound option in control panel is on.

If these are suggest obtaining latest sound drivers from IBM web site and reinstalling them.

R52 laptop screen stays blank

Try removing the battery and starting up just on power supply. May be a bad battery. If that doesn't work let me know.
