Question about Dryers

1 Answer

My Hoover tce660 condenser dryer works intermittently. Most of the time it has worked with no problem, but now and again when pressing the "start drying" button, nothing happens. The lights are are all on everything seems to be fine but it will not start a cycle. It will then stay like this from a few hours to up to a few days, until upon checking with nothing having changed it will be back to normal. The machine is out with warranty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hoover TCE660 tumble - no heat

Common faults -
1 The heating elements can fail (meaning open circuit)
2 There are cut-outs (T.O.C's) that might need resetting
3 The thermostats (stats) can trip out or burn out (meaning opencircuit)
4 Moderntumble dryers also have sensors and pcb's (Printed circuitboards) thesehave programs that can fail and circuitry although most should produce an errorcode showing you were the fault is.
5 Faultyconnections and burned wires may also be the fault.

My Hoover TC650 condensor dryer has a fault. When turned on it makes a noise (buzz) but the drum does not revolve. If I turn it by hand and then quickly close the door and press the button it will...

i saw your question and never worked on a hoover dryer so i checked it out go here to see video
https://www.how-to-repair.com/help/hoover-candy-tumble-dryer-drum-not-turning-and-belt-ok-faulty-capacitor/
i have to tell you on all the dryers i've ever worked on they never had a cap in them, only washers,on a dryer that isn't a condenser dryer if you get the dreaded buzzing sound and start it like you did, open the door, hold in the door switch and spin the drum with your other hand while someone else pushes in the start button and it would start it would be the motor,i've seen a condenser dryer and the problem always was with the filter, people that had just bought one didn't know you had to clean out the filter box, never took one apart,i saw that nobody answered you so i hope this video helps you out and i learned that condenser dryers have a cap in them.

this could be the thermostat has gone but most likeley its the copasitator that makes the machine start and stop and change directions if the machine runs and cannot change directions this will cause the thermostat to glow red WARNING THIS MAY CAUSE A FIRE

I think you may have a bad relay on the motor, where power is re-applied after the push start is released

take the top off. there should be a small relay board to the right just behind the fascia. the fault probably lies in that board - relay not holding in
