Igo sat nav cant get gps signal ,it was working fine untill november 2009,now it does not pick up gps signal

The mosdt common reason for non connection is low battery power. The battery lasts approx 2 years and may not be charging correctly. Try changing to a new battery.

Second reason is that it is not on the right port, consult manual for your model and set it to its correct port and BAUD rate.

Finally if you have started the enginbe with it connected to the 12v car outlet you may have damaged the chip.

No valid GPS signal for two days, what I can do?

You can try a reset Check in the manual where the reset hole is i thinlk this model is under the scfreen surround which is removable.

This will take ut back to factory settings, you might want to check if its set to the right PORT and BAUD try this

GPS Program Port: COM1
GPS Hardware Port: COM9
Baud Rate: 4880
Manage GPS Automatically (Ticked)

Now other reasons are low battery= low signal//fully charge the battery

no signal from satellites= damaged SIIRF chip caused by plugging into car power when starting engine...needs new m/board

Maximum time to access 1-9 minutes max...

Me2

3 things and 1 is serious
Not a clear view of the sky...
Batteries are too low to read a satellite signal fully charge the unit
The SIIRF chip is damaged.. Expensiive!

If you put it into car power and start engine it will damage the unit and one day you will turn it off and then on and it will never work again

Better hope its just a low battery

Distinator gps can not find GPS signal (say's signal o low)

Not sure what model you have But if its the A600 /01or 5210 and you are running destinator 6.0 or higher you first need to recharge the battery so that it shows 5 bars on the battery icon. Low signal can be from a bad or low battery. a faulty antenna ( flip out)
I am the distributor for these GPS in Australia. If you need a new battery contact me as i am now the only one with these batteries.
I also recommend you get one of our 50Db antennas The skymaster. to help improve the signal and take some of the load off the battery. Do not use those cheap Chinese antennas as they are only 28Db and cause more lag than they are worth.
the site is Marbella Australia contactt me from there

When I turn on my TomTom, it says GPS signal lost for about 3-4 minutes before it picks a signal up. This happens everytime no matter where I am. Then it works fine.

Does your GPS have a good view of the sky?
i.e. not mounted low on the dash of your car.

it really only needs to find 3 satellites to work but it might take a while to lock on if reception is low.

When you say every time you turn it on. I assume that you don't go days without turning it on. A GPS stores information about satellites and their orbits across the sky and keeps it for about 6 days. The download process of this information is fairly slow. If you run it most days the information gets updated while the gps is running so you tend not to notice.

Just some ideas to think about.

There is a firmware update to correct this issue, if you are still having it.

My tomtom cant find any satellites and keeps saying waiting on valid gps signal......

check the port is set to 8
not sure if your model has GPS search wher it finds the port and vbaude automativcally, if it does use it and see if that fixes it if not
your battery is too low
you have a damaged SIIRF chip and that is expensive to repair
