Possible failure of the main power supply which is the SMPS unit. You need to open and check the fuse and use a multimeter to confirm the absence of output voltage to the main board.
if so check the link for some tips to repair SMPS.

Use the composite video output of the DVD player and connect it to the composite video input of the TV. It's the yellow colored RCA cable.

Unable to get sound for movie using windows media player

Some players may only show the video but no sound.
Is this a DVD?
WMA?
There are free players that may work for the specific file type
on download.com.
However you may only need to un-mute your volume.
You may need to raise the volume on your master volume.
But if you are sure of there being no sound.
Its easier to just get a player designed for DVD, AVI, FLV formats etc.

Have you tried just hoooking up the DVD player by itself? Is the DVD player output setting correct? Also, make sure the "video input" is set for the correct channel that you are viewing (i.e. Channel 3).

"LOAD" Showing on the display

Exactly the same problem myself. Try pressing open and then holding tight to a cotton bud, sweep inside the machine. The problem seems to be dust collecting. If it works then get a proper cleaning disc. My problem got so bad that the machine would spit out most discs as unable to read.
