There is no way to charge the laptop using a PC.
You need an adapter that suits your laptop with the correct voltage and amps. The label on the bottom of the laptop will give you these ratings.
You can purchase a power adapter from the laptop manufacturer's WEB site.
You can use aster market adapters such as Targus. These adapters have different power plugs that suit the power input socket on the laptop and adjust the voltage to suit your laptop.

No, that is not posible. you might want to get a universal charger for the laptop, they are fairly cheep. At the bottom of the laptop you can see how much power the laptop uses like:
19V (Volt) 1,2A (Amps)

If you see lights when you connect the charger, then its not the charger. If you dont see any lights on the device when you connect the charger, then replace the charger. Otherwise replace the battery.

Most tablets will not charge via a PC or Laptop USB: the current available is usually under 500 mA which is well under the minimum requirements for most tablets.
ps. you could try try using a main/car USB charger for another device using your tablet cable.

Inspiron 1501 charging problem

should find out why the original charger stopped working in the first place... was it a faulty mother board really. anyway if the ratings on the charger you bought are for that laptop indeed, then it should power up the laptop minus the battery. ofcourse if you put in charger minus battery, dont expect it to show the charging led..just try to power it on

It could be a battery problem. Try switching to AC mode by plugging in to an AC outlet using your Acer power chord (battery charger also). If the charger led don't light, it means it's defective and it can't charge your battery. Please try another power chord or battery charger then. Just remember to take out your battery when using your laptop in AC mode to lengthen your battery life. Regards!

Its absolutely a charger problem. This is not a big issue. If its charging perfectly then neglect it. or else replace it with new charger. Thank you...
