Windows 7 Requirements
Please visite the above link to check the minimum system requirements for Windows 7.
My advise is that before going for Windows 7 upgrade make sure that the drivers for Windows 7 are available, the graphic card of your system meets the minimum requirement and above all the processor is capable enough to handle Windows 7.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

Hi,
minimum 2GB for smooth use of the pc, but RAM is fairly cheep so I would go for 4GB. The most importet hardware to be fast is your harddrive.

HOE DO I REMOVE XP OPERATING SYSTOM FROM HARD DRIVE

Are you trying to upgrade from xp to windows 7? First check if your hardware can support windows 7. You should have atleast 2 GB or above memory, 60 GB of HDD for windows alone so 320 GB HDD would be recommended. Your cpu should be dual core or core 2 duo atleast. If those are checked, upgrade to windows should delete your windows xp.
Or the other option is format the partition of the HDD where windows xp is installed.
Let me know more. So that we on the FixYa can help.
Good luck

Tip

Upgrading Toshiba Satellite A105 to Windows 7

Before you do anything I strongly recommend you upgrade the RAM to 2GB. Your system can only support 2 GB of DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1 GB per slot. Windows 7 will work OK with 1 GB, but more is better! One memory stick can be found under the keyboard, which can be accessed by popping the top plastic strip right in front of the monitor, unscrewing the two retaining screws, and lifting the protective film over the memory. The second module is on the bottom of the system . You unscrew the memory compartment, which is located directly below the battery and to the right of the Toshiba model sticker.

The rest of this Review is pretty much for any system. I will be providing more How-Tos specific to certain laptops soon.

Next, I suggest you clean install Windows 7 on your system. Even when clean installing, Windows 7 can preserve your entire original installation in a Windows. old file in the root of C:. This means you will be able to retrieve all of your documents and everything else, even run old programs from this folder temporarily. However, I would suggest migrating your files from windows.old to their corresponding folder in Windows 7.

Windows 7 has a massive preloaded driver database, so most of your hardware should be installed immediately. If there are drivers missing, and even if everything is covered, you should run Windows Update immediately to ensure you have the most current version of Windows 7 and all hardware drivers.

Finally, you need to the "Toshiba Software Installer for Windows 7" . This will install the "Hot key functions" and additional drivers for the notebook that is not detected by Windows 7.

Your CPU does not meet the recommendation for this model video card.
To check if your computer is OK for Windows 7 run this program.

How to make geforce6100pm-m2 read both memory slots

make sure your memory meets these guide lines.
? 2 x 240-pin DDR2 DIMM socket support up to 16 GB*
? * (Due to the DRAM maximum size is 2GB at present, the memory maximum size we have tested is 4GB)
? Dual-channel DDR2 memory architecture
? Support DDR2 800/667/533/400 DDR2 SDRAM
Due to the operating system limitation, the actual memory size may be less than 4GB for the reservation for system usage under Windows?32-bit OS.
For Windows?64-bit OS with 64-bit CPU, there is no such limitation
which means win xp will only read 2gig and win vist/7 will read 4g so if you have 2x 2gig and only 1 is registering its working fine with win xp.

NO you cannot, on that same computer, no matter what OS, because, you MUST change your central Processing Unit, CPU. To allow Windows 7 to work correctly.
