Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Bought a Workforce 1100 Epson printer and it came with ink cartridges. Those worked fine but, once one of the inks ran out, I bought the whole series (at Costco) of all 5 inks and replaced the magenta. The printer worked fine. Then the black ink ran out and I replaced all of the other cartridges as well, with the exception of the Magenta, which I had replaced earlier. The printer now does not recognize any of the cartridges, except magenta and will not print. I have tried the following: Taking out and putting the cartridges in again, making sure they are seated properly. Holding down the power button to start the ink flow (suggested by Epson site) Taking out the new cartridges and putting in the empty ones...just to see what happened. (still says it doesn't recognize them.) I have researched this all over the web. It seems to be a widespread problem, with no apparent solution. Any suggestions...besides a large hammer?

OK...maybe I'm dense. The page you are linking me to does not have any information on this problem. It is a listing including links to the Epson official site as well as others.

Can you give me the exact link???? Thank you,

If it is still under warranty , call for a technician to do a warranty check
there are some printer manufacturers that have an inbuilt program that will cut out the machine if anything but genuine cartridges are used
under warranty or not , there is a clause in consumer law that states , the unit has be be replaced or money refunded it the machine is not fit for the purpose or the unit fails before a reasonable of period of time in use
one round of cartridges is not a reasonable expectation of the time in use not is it fit for the purpose if it will not work after one round of cartridges

SOURCE: mfc 665-cw magenta clogged?

Do you use some very cheap generik ink?

If your ink wont match the specifications of the needed one clogging is the result.

If you have tried several cleaning there is unfurtunately nothing more what you can do: the ph is dead (for mag).

SOURCE: printing in black & white when color cartridge ran out

One of the possible reason why you can't print black in white because Epson ink jet printers require all of the ink cartridges to have ink in them in order to print any color, black and white, or grayscale images. More than that Epson printers contain a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors to work. Even when users are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged for color printing and prevent air bubbles from entering the color print nozzles which can damage the print head.

SOURCE: iP4300 only recognizes magenta OR cyan

1. Get compressed air
2. Run Printhead under HOT water, do not worry about contacts getting slightly wet.

3. Blow compressed air with straw attachment into screens where the cartridge nozzle sits on printhead. then let it sit and dry.

4. reinstall print test page

5. if this fails open paint/photoshop and print a page of the color that is not printing correctly. rinse and repeat until colors flow freely.

I have several ip4300s and I have yet to give up the ghost on a printer with a clog ujsing this method.

SOURCE: Why won't my CX9400F recognize Epson ink cartridges

The Epson CX9400F printer seems to require replacement of all the color ink cartridges, even if only the Black is empty.

I print almost exclusively in Black, but with my first change of Black, I was forced to change all the color. At the time I thought Epson did not provide completely filled color ink cartridges.

Just yesterday, I replaced Black and the printer complained it did not recognize the rest of color cartridges. So I replaced all the other color ink cartridges and now it works fine.

SOURCE: HP D135 - replaced printhead - still doesn't print in that color

try this link : I followed the directions and fixed the problem. the instructions that came with the new printhead weren't really complete.

Here's essentially all I did for my fix - Opened the printer top, turned the printer off. Removed the "bad" printhead, cleaned the metal contacts on the printhead and printer with windex. Closed the printer. Turned it on. waited for it to reset. Opened the printer. Turned the printer off again. Installed the printhead. Closed the lid. Plugged the printer in again. When it was ready I accessed the HP toolbox and alligned the printheads and cleaned the printheads. It worked. Here's a link with photos.

Why doesn't my black ink work in my Epson WorkForce 600 series after replacing the black ink cartridge?

The Epson printer may only use genuine ink cartridges which contain a chip so that you cannot fill the cartridge with ink or use non genuine ink cartridges.

OR

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

Epson workforce 520 won't recognise ink cartidges

When replacing ink on the Epson Workforce 520, Ensure the cartridges have the correct/same number of gold contacts. Ive seen them with 7 and 9 gold square contacts and they were otherwise identical, and the ones with 9 contacts threw an "cartridge not recognized" error on the printer's dispay.

Sounds like there is a problem with the printer cartridge. Simplest solution would be to return it to the point of purchase for a replacement.

If you only filled the cartridges with ink they will not work.

The chip on the cartridges needs resetting.

New out of box!!

If you already have tried reseating all of the inks and and inks are still not recognized, Please contact Epson tech support for a replacement ink or if they find out after some diagnostics that it is the printer that is having an issue they would be replacing your printer.
