May be the lan card is disable. Go to control panel, Network Connection, right click on the icon Local Area Connection , choose enable.
If you do no see any icon in Network Connection, you need to install a driver for it. Give the name of you Lan card, I will send you the driver.

Lan card not found

Please, follow the instructions below, and reply with the status of your LAN driver:
Start>Control Panel>System & Security>Device Manager>Network Adapters...

Find your LAN card and see if it has a question mark by it. Try to right-click on it and update the driver. If that doesn't work, uninstall the driver, reboot your computer, and re-install the driver.

Also, let me know what model computer your using and whether or not its Windows XP..

Thank you!

No network card present on Foxconn A74ML-K. I have reset the bios and cmos.

Hi clordjr,

Try to remove your LAN Card from the PC.
Afterwards, clean the gold plated conductor fins with pencil eraser.
Then, place it back properly to the PCI Slot.
Restart your PC and check if the LAN Card is already detected by the system.
If there is a need for re-installing the driver of the LAN Card, please do so.

Hope this helps you a lot.

Thank you for using FixYa!

The lan ports do not work but the wireless works fine.

I think that the router is just fine.

The issue could be with the LAN card of your PC of perhaps a faulty cable. So, my advice is to check the cable and lan card of your PC. You may use a different/already working cable and a laptop for diagnosis. Note that status of LAN connection is indicated by the LEDs at the front of router and LAN connection of the PC. If the LED indicates connection, then it could be the configuration issue.

Hope this helps!
Let me know if i could be of any further assistance.

Cannot connect to internet via lan but can connect via wifi need to have my lan working i live in a apartment but i cant have a router set up

first need to know if the LAN has an IPsetup manually (static IP) if it's set static set it to obtain an IP automatic. If it's already set to obtain an IP automatic, try to reset the winsock and see if that will fix the problem, search google how to do that on DOS. if that did nottry to set the LAN card to work on 10mbps or 10 half duplex mode. if this won't work then the lan card might be bad.

Lan card toshiba wireless no working

Check this Tip for an overview
  1. Connect your PC to your router using LAN Cable: be sure you can browse internet
  2. If you cannot browse check router config with your ISP
  3. Connect to your router using IP address you find for gateway in Network status
  4. Configure your router wireless section to match with your PC card
  5. Start removing security, broadcast radio signal, create a simple SSID as network name
  6. Check if router network is seen by your PC card (when you disconnect the LAN cable and activate the wireless card)
  7. If connection is established ( near the router) try different location
  8. Reconnect cable and reconfig adding security protocol (WPA-PSK recommended) use parameters compatible with your lan card
