Restar the computer with the mouse or key pad held down. Windows will not run on a Mac without special software.

Cdrom drive can not eject / Cdrom is stuck

How To Eject CD from CD-ROM drive if it is Stuck :

If you have a CD into CD-ROM drive and it is stuck and you are trying to eject tray of CDROM by pressing the eject button or windows eject command but CD won't eject as there is no command to eject a stuck compact disc from the CDROM drive then this article is for you.

Step 1: Switch off the computer.

5573fa0.jpgStep 2. On the front of the CD-ROM drive you may find a small hole called Emergency Eject hole below the tray of CD-ROM drive . Take a long pin around 3 inch, (also known as CD ejector) it must be hard enough, insert this pin inside the hole and push a little. The CD tray will slightly move to out.

Step 3: Now you may manually pull the tray and you are done. You have successfully ejected the stucked CD.

Step 4: Switch on the computer and you may work as usual.

Thanks

Windows 7 laptop won't boot to OS , only has a black screen with a blinking cursor

Insert your system recovery disc to repair your startup.

1. Change your Bios to boot from disc:
When your computer powers on, hit F2 (on some computers, F8 on others). Use your arrow keys and move to the right to your BOOT option. Hit the down arrow until you select your CD/DVD drive. Look at the bottom of your screen, and it should say to change the option hit F7 or F8. Use the specified keys, and move your CD/DVD drive above your hard-drive. Save your settings.

2. Boot from your disc. Insert your system recovery disc and restart your computer. Let the recovery disc load. If the option comes up to hit any button to boot from CD/DVD, then hit any button. Once it loads, it should come to a spot where it wants your language. Select your language, then select the option "Startup Repair". Click on it, and let it repair the startup. If it automatically starts correcting your startup then great! If not, then select your operating system from the list and click the Repair Startup option. Restart your computer, and hopefully it will boot from your hard-drive correctly.

Hope this works.

P.S. If it continues to boot from your recovery disc, then using the same method in step 1, go to your bios, and move your CD/DVD drive below your hard-drive.

When powering up, the CDROM light just blinks every second

Troubleshoot the problem this way. If the clicking noise comes from the CDROM then disconnect the power and ribbon cable from the rear of the CDROM and attempt to boot your PC again. If you think there is a CDROM stuck in the drive (and due to settings that let CDs such as Windows install disks boot from the CD ROM), You can get the CD out with the PC off by getting a large paperclip, and after straigtrning out the wire, you will see a small hole in the front of the CDROM drive usually below the tray that comes out for you to put the CD in. Push the paperclip in firmly, and the tray will pop out, letting you get your CD out. Retry booting after the CD has been removed.

Windows 7 stutters

Hello Jonathan,

Was Windows 7 the operating system that came with

your System? If not, What I would advise you to do

is this:

Check HP website to find out if your Laptop supports

Windows 7.

If it doesnt, then Jonathan, I would advise you to

PLEASE change it back to the operating system

that came with your system, or better still, the

operating system that it supports.

The reason is because that is exactly what I faced

two weeks ago....

I changed the operating system for my PC to

Windows 7 ( Even though it doesnt support it)...it

worked fine for a while, then later it started to develop

faults after a while...like stuttering, mouse pointer

moving round the screen, graphics displaying

improperly...etc.

I first thought it wasn't a big deal, so I fixed it by

repairing the drivers, and it workied fine once again...

In short Jonathan....Now as I'm typing, the system is

with HP Service Centre for they have to change the

Mainboard Outrightly!

So PLEASE, if your system was not specified

Windows 7, use the Operating Systems that it

supports.

But if it is the one that came with it, then let me know

so as to tell you some quick fixes.

Hope this helps you out.

Goodluck and thanks for using fixya!

My disk drive is not reading my CD-ROM's . When I place my CD into my disk drive nothing happens...it sound as though that it's reading it, but nothing appears on the screen.

if the problem occur, see if you have not responding windows, if yes you might have problem with the cdrom drive. maybe it's just a laser problem by dirt or dust. TRY THIS !! get a cotton bud, dip with head cleaner alcohol or equivalent, then slowly rub onto the laser lens with circle movement, then rub again with dry cotton bud.

Very slow computer

Hello,

You can reformat the hard drive when installing windows. In order to get this done you will need a bootable windows instalation cd. Just start the computer and press f12 to select boot from cd. When the windows instalation starts, among the first things it will do is to ask you how to reformat the hard drive. In order for this to be shown however, you will need to boot the cd when you start the computer instead of running it from windows. Make sure you copy the files you don't want to loose to another hard drive or usb stick before you attempt this. Once you allow the windows instalation cd to format the drive you can't recover anything from it, and a new, fresh copy of windows will be installed with factory defaults.

If you need more informations please reply.

Installing widows XP

first, have a WIN XP startup disk...created by (in windows)  inserting floppy and right clicking choosing format and select option "create MSDOS startup disk"

first backup all personal files...then restart and bypass to DOS screen at startup...try using F8 key just after BIOS screen...then select startup to DOS prompt only...then run (from the floppy disc) format c:

now you should have a nearly bare hard drive. repeat above steps and this time choose "startup using CDROM drivers"...then insert CDROM and redirect to that drive letter (d drive?) and run setup.exe.
