Question about Whirlpool Dryers

1 Answer

I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II electric dryer, model no. GEQ8858JQ0. For the past couple of days it has shut off after 20-30 minutes of running. After an hour it will start again after I press the start button again. Just monkeying with it today and it sometimes just buzzes at me rather than starting back up. I assume something is overheating (and may be fried as of today) but where should I start looking?

Motor bad ..most likely your exhaust vent is blocked and lint has built up around motor frame ..motor has probably overheated and damaged either the windings or bearings

Sounds like the knob is not on correctly, or is not the correct knob, or the plate with the numbers on it has moved. When it turns off naturally, does that line up with 'off'?

Whirlpool Ultimate Care will not stop spinning

I work on these every day for the past 8 years and have never once seen this problem. If i had to guess i would assume its a stuck contact on the timer. The timer is the only thing that sends power down to the motor but its an expensive guess.

    Hope this helps _MJ_
