I have a 1996 saturn 1.9 litre. Ohc. I replased water pump and still getting very warm. I found a pin hole in the underside of the radiator cap. Its on the bottom on the part above the water hole. Could...

bars treatment is for a temporary fix and like everything temporary it will fail when you want it most. Holes in the cooling system no matter how small will stop the pressure build up that raises the boiling point of water . Water under pressure takes in more heat so the engine runs cooler That is why you have a pressure rated radiator cap. I would recommend a compression test to check for head gasket problem. Have a flow test done on the radiator to check for blocked cores. make sure that there is not an air lock in the cooling system

What is the difference between evaporator core vs. heater core

Very good question. A heater core takes heated water directly from the engine and forces it through a matrix of flat metal plates (like on a motorbike cylinder head), a fan is turned on to force cold air through the hot matrix, blowing hot air into the car cabin.
An evaporator doesn't. It compresses a chemical gas (separate to the engine cooling system) in a circuit of pipes which then evaporate in a different pressured chamber, the rapid depressurisation causes the chemical to super cool so when the same fan is switched on it draws super cooled air from the evaporator/condenser circuit.
The result is ice cool air blown about the cabin.
Simple experiment : Buy a can of Butane Gas, squeeze the nipple to release the gas quickly (stay away from flames !!!) after a few seconds the can will super cool, the water droplets stuck to the can side are a result of extreme temp drops, the can will freeze on the outside ! You now know how air conditioning works ! Give yourself a star. Now make us a perpetual motor.

Learning is fun. Good Luck Friend Red.

Global.netOur ac/heating unit is approx 2 years old. The unit triped the breaker resulting in the fan continueing to run, but the cooling unit no longer cooled.. Re set the breaker and unit immediately...

I would check all the connections at the breaker panel, and in the disconnect and in the control panel of the unit, the connections must be tight. If the breaker is sized to small a dirty coil could be to blame if so give it the hose, a full solid stream and be thorough is cleaning it.

Refrigerator not getting cold enough. Do I have a coolant leak?

First check the refrigerent level and gas leak could result in poor cooling.

Block in the drier or capillary section could result in poor cooling

Thermostate could be defective

Defrost the freezer chamber in case you have excess ice formed in the freezer chamber.

Freezer is cold but not freezing the ref is not cold

Simple! Refrigerent leak only results in poor cooling. Check your thermostate also to make double sure of the cause.

Not freezing or cooling and is clicking on and off

pls check the thermostate, and the setting,it may be narrow .you can get the same relay which you get with the unit.check the voltage near the socket.check for loose connection in the relay and compresor terminal and thermostate.

I need to change thermostate

first make sure you have the right a mount of anti-freeze in it first and there is no air bubbles in the systems but to change the thermostate follow the upper radiator back to the engine and for the most part it only has 3-screws holding it make sure the engine is cool and that way you do not lose all of your anti-freeze and put the new thermostate in the same way the old one was.
