Question about Toshiba Satellite L305-S5908 Notebook

1 Answer

My son accidently shut his laptop down whilst installing microsoft office and now he has an error on startup: status: oxcoooooe9. I tried rebooting and starting in safe mode but it always goes back to the error screen. The people at the service place reckon he just has to start from scratch and reinstall windows, but he doesn't want to lose his data. He doesn't have a back up disc.

Instead of re-installing the Operating System you can do an Operating System repair. Boot to the Windows Operating System installer disc,. If you have XP, boot to the XP installer disc then enter the setup program. There will be an option that says "Press R to Repair Computer". Press letter R then let the setup finish. For Vista/7, boot to the installed disc then select "Startup Repair" This will repair all corrupted Windows file and will keep your data intact,

Hope this help.

My laptop is shutting down suddenly if i listen to music or movies after couple of minutes!!

Is the laptop free of dust in fan and vents? Is there sufficent air flow through the laptop, bottom and side vents? Shut down ALL unnessary programs at laptop start. Try CCLEANER freeware at :http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/, this freeware program will remove the junk from your machine. In TOOLS, STARTUP, Disable ALL unnessary startup programs, In the Internet Explorer Tab, Disable/ delete ALL TOOLBARS, they are killers on broswer speed. Try MALWAREBYTES freeware at : http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ In the installation, UNCHECK the TRIAL PRO version, you want the freeware version. Run a FULL SCAN, DELETE ALL RESULTS. Reboot machine. Take a look at this: http://www.pcworld.com/article/143538/windows_vista.html

Tell them to give you a NEW computer. You got a lemon. They WILL give you a new one if you've had this much trouble with it. I'm serious, they do it all the time on lemons. Be assertive! They will cave.

Error 25004.config.xml trying to load Publisher 2007 on HP laptop running Windows 7

There seems to be a few problems which cause this.

Make sure all previous versions are removed first of all. There may have been a demo/trial version installed before that you don't know about.

To do this follow the Microsoft instructions at support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/

Next ensure that you reboot your machine not just log off and on again.

Finally ensure that there are no office add ins installed. In Add/Remove programs uninstall any of the following
Microsoft Office Add-in
Microsoft Save as PDF
Microsoft XPS

Again reboot and try the Office install and you should be good.

Windows boot manager file: /boot/bcd status: oxcoooooe9 info: an unexpected I/o error has occurred I am experiencing the same problem on a Dell laptop (Inspiron 1525: Windows boot manager - file:...

Try check your hard disk with the other machine. Try running hard disk diagnostic test. If there's a problem with diagnostic test i suspect your hard disk is faulty. If you tried connecting with other machine then same problem, suspected also hard disk faulty. You might need to change it.

Install MS office home and student 2007

Reboot

Shut down any active protection software such any antivirus, antispyware, antitrojan, or registry monitoring software.

Try to Unistall by using the install disk. It should detect a previous installation and ask if you want to Install, Repair, or Uninstall.

If that fails, download and run CCleaner - Use the Cleaner and Regisrty modules default settings
http://www.ccleaner.com/

Reboot, and shut down active protection software.

Download and run Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
http://support.microsoft.com/KB/290301
Remove the applicable entries.

Reboot, and shut down active protection software.

Reinstall

Hope this helps - good luck!
