Try doing a restore or you may need to use the install disc to repair it.

Glad to HELP YOU!

To fix your Windows XP you will need the installation disk.
Start Windows, let it boot and run and when every driver is loaded and when you will not notice any hard drive activity (the LED will not blink) you can insert your Windows XP installation disk.
On the screen that will appear (a blue color with many options) you will choose WINDOWS REPAIR.
That way your system will "update" all drivers it needs for a perfect functionality.
When it will be done click on EXIT option on the same blue window as before.

My best regards!

Have corrupted files on my acer travelmate 2300

So are you running xp or windows 7, either way you could put in your operating system discs and go through the prompts and repair computer, windows 7 will find error and correct as will xp, but with xp if you choose repair you will lose all updates and servicepacks, or you could try these instructions on the link below

I have an hp mini 210-1041nr running win xp and when I start it, the computer tells me Windows\System32\Config\System missing. I tried service pack 3 but it didn't work. Can u please help?

You need to get a Windows XP from someone and follow these instructions:
Windows could not start because the following files is missing or corrupt
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM or \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SOFTWARE

1. Insert and boot from your Windows XP CD.
2. At the first R=Repair option, press the R key
3. Press the number that corresponds to the correct location for the installation of Windows you want to repair.
Typically this will be #1
4. Enter in the administrator password when requested
5. cd \windows\system32\config
6. Depending on which section was corrupted:
ren software software.bad or ren system system.bad
7. Depending on which section was corrupted
copy \windows\repair\system
copy \windows\repair\software
8. Take out the CD ROM and type exit

If that doesn't work or you can't get into the repair console then With the XP disk you choose to install Windows XP and when you choose to install over the current XP installation you will be given the option to repair the current Windows installation and you won't lose all of your data.

Two problems: how do I replace corrupted windows xp system files without using reimage repair. I do not not have the install disks. and, I want to edit text on a document. what free software can...

Yes you can replace corrupt Windows XP system files on your PC without re-imaging, Just insert your Windows XP disk in the PC the Windows XP CD will give you a splash screen that will give you a repair option. Click on it an Windows repair will start that will replace/repair all your corrupt problems.

You have not mentioned which type of the document you need to edit however if you have the most common MS Word .doc file than it can be opened in "WordPad" which ships free with Windows. To access it go to and click the Start button and then in the stop menu select Accessories. You will find WordPad there.

Good Luck!

Windows could not start, file is missing or corrupt-windows, system 32, config system. to repair file using original setup CD-ROM, select "r" at first screen to start repair. What is this?

Hi !

If you enter in Windows XP set up, below instructions will appear:

1. To set up Windows XP not, press ENTER.
2. To repair Windows XP installation using windows console, press R.
3. To quit set up with installing Windows XP, press F3.

By pressing ENTER means it will repair your operating system and it will delete all your files in hard disk drive leaving nothing to that particular drive or partition.

By pressing R means it will repair your operating system files only and it will not remove your files.

By pressing F3, it will exit the Windows XP set up.

I hope this is helpful and thank you for using FixYa !
