I have a 3Com PC Digital camera. It works OK with the software that came with it but Skype can't seem to find it. Any idea where Ican start? Thanks Kirt Steeves

Tried both methods with no success. Running XP on a desk top.
Installed drivers through Add Hardware. Is that correct method?

  • Kirt Steeves Mar 27, 2011

there are no cameras shown in "Scanners and Cameras" in the control panel...only my canner. When I try to add one it does not accept the INF files that are available. Since I'm running this on a machine with XP and the drivers appear to be for 95 and 98 perhaps a new driver would help but 3com does not make or support this camera any more. Maybe another driver would work from another camera. I'd heard that the Intel CS331 driver might work but I'm reluctant to try it without some form of expert opinion.

nd this solution on a User Page at Skype. Download Manycam athttp://www.manycam.com/. Start Manycam, then start skype and use Tools, Options, Video Settings to select Manycam as your web camera. Worked for me.

Yeah uninstall the webcam and the software then plug in the web cam and see if it finds the drivers automatically (win 7 n vista will) and skype will pick it up. if not just install the drivers NOT the software

you can do it that way. or search for drivers then point it to the disk with the drivers on it.

Search for drivers using which utility?

  • Anonymous Mar 26, 2011

when you add new hardware there should be an option to specify the location you want to search. it will on your cd

there are no cameras shown in "Scanners and Cameras" in the control panel...only my scanner. When I try to add one it does not accept the INF files that are available. Since I'm running this on a machine with XP and the drivers appear to be for 95 and 98 perhaps a new driver would help but 3com does not make or support this camera any more. Maybe another driver would work from another camera. I'd heard that the Intel CS331 driver might work and I tried it but the Add Hardware utility won't take it. This whole thing is odd because the camera, with its original driver, works fine with the programs thatcame with it and with Net Meeting...but not with Skype. Any idea if there would be a driver that would work with Skype?

How to get my finepix 6800 to work as webcam

First you need to switch USB-mode to PC-camera.
Menu/OK > Setup > USB Mode > PC cam > OK.
I'm not sure which programs this will work with, tho.
MS Videoconference / Messenger / Skype?
Your computer should recognize the camera as a webcam before you install different programs.

I've tried to use this webcam with Skype but the person receiving my call can hear me but cannot see me, we can see ourselves and all other functions seem to be OK. Can this camera be used with Skype?

as long as you make sure it is set up right in the software any cam will work with skype, but who knows, i would rather use yahoo messanger over skype any day

Use of digital camera Lumix DMC-LS70 as a web cam.

Hello,
It will not work through USB like a standard webcam. Ls-70 only lets you access camera memory card/onboard memory when connected via USB.
However you could connect the camera video-out socket to a PC with graphics card with video capture function. Some cards with video capture work with skype (check this URL:
http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=41101 )
There are also various software solutions which can fool your webchat client into thinking that video capture stream is actually an output of a usb webcam. (Try google for "video capture into skype".
At the moment this seems to be the only easy way to use LS-70 as webcam.

Good luck,

Raf

Camera doesnt work

Sorry talhahs, creative has not written Vista compatible driver software for you're PC-Cam 350 camera. Hence you're camera will not function with any version of Vista.
There are few SD readers currently that are compatible with Vista. Click on this link to see one type.
http://www.vavolo.com/productdetails.asp,mode,1,ProductID,3908,gclid,CPqsn6iJ-JMCFQEnGgod1UrbWg
A card reader that will help you in transferring pictures from you’re camera to you’re PC while using Vista.
Win XP, unlike Vista will still run program software even if it has not passed MS's compatability.

Good Luck!
