Question about Car Audio & Video

2 Answers

Why does my DVD start over from the beginning when the car is turned off then back on. I just had my player replaced in the car I bought due to some malfunctions and the old one used to resume where it left off when the car turns back on. This player does not seem to be of the same quality ad the first one. My original DVD player wad the rosen A10 DVD/videogame ent system and the new one is the rosen T8 ent system. Is there a big difference in price with these two players?

Not sure of the price difference but, the reason that your unit does not "remember" where it left off on the movie is because there is no memory connection. Most units have a 12 volt battery connection (memory), 12 volot switched (accessory) and ground connection.

I can't get the dvd player to start at the beginning, after movie began and I needed to change the settings

I hate that feature as well. When the movie starts up again hit menu with your remote. This will give you the option to start from the beginning or continue.

My dual dvd player starts the movie over after i go over a bump

Bring it back to where you bought it and buy a better name. There may be a firmware update available for the unit which improves it's behavior and recovery. If you're not able to return it, perhaps you can isolate it from bumps by placing it on a piece of foam. I'm sure it may be very frustrating.

Our TV/DVD player (LTV-32w4 HDC) is just out of the 4 year extended warranty we bought. The TV works fine, but the DVD player will not start up. When a disc is inserted, it seems to be trying to start...

According to your complaint post, the fult is due to its DVD mechanism itself. It will be best to replace the DVD tray mechanism [ plastic made one]. You can bought it from most of the electronic spare part shops at your town. But the model fitted with Westinghouse will be very difficult to get. Anyway try to get it. The fault is with loading tray mechanism itself. OK.

Qwestar dvd player auto memory playback

Try this. Re-wire your 12v power source to remain in a constant "hot" state. ie: connected to battery instead of ignition acc. Then, when you want to turn units on or off, use the remote or buttons on headrests themselves. This method will leave power to the units when switched off so the internal memory can resume where you left off.

DVD in the player starts from beginning each time the car starts

Well yes, kind of, you would have to have a dealer wire this hot so that it did not lose power to it when the auto is turned off. This is not a great idea as if someone left it on it could drain the battery after a while. You would have to have a dealer do this because any electric
work that is not done by the dealer can and will void your warranty,
yes a car starter, raido,if it is not done by your factory dealer, they can deny your warranty. The other option is to have a different player installed that had non volatile memory, which would hold settings when the power was removed.

I would read the manual of this devise, it could have an option that allowed this before you do anything drastic. If it was me, I would just make the kids fast forward it. Sorry if I could not be of more help. Hope it works out for you.

Converting up to 1080

Hello. You have to use the HDMI port and connect to the HDMI, or DVI, port on the back of the TV to get 1080. Even if playing HDDVD, this cable is necessary to get the increase. That, and the TV has to be in 1080 too. If you look at the display, on the front of the player, while watching the DVD, it will tell you at what resolution the DVD is playing. The HDMI to HDMI/DVI must be installed to get the increase in resolution. I have a Panasonic HD 34" 1080i widescreen TV, with DVI connection. When connected, the player played my DVD's at 1080i on my TV, while at only 480i thru the composite cables.

On some older movies or series(I like Star Trek- TNG), it doesn't work well due to the transfer to the DVD. Most newer DVD's, such as Batman Begins (there is an HD out, but I have DVD only), improved on the upconvert for me nicely.
