The dial knob itself has slipped on the shaft. You need to remove knob from timer switch shaft and realign it. to current running cycle.

We bought our Series 800 Washer (and dryer) in 08/2009. My wife has never been happy with them. It is off warranty now 10/5/2010.
We have always had Kenmore... but she hates this set.
We are having the exact same problem with this washer. The current problem is on the regular cycle when it gets to the spin segment it does spin and all the water is removed HOWEVER just before it shut off it fills with rinse water.
I'll bet any money they are made in China. Looking for a solution on the web. Sears is no help.

The timer has a hollow shaft. The tip of the shaft has
ears on it. To keep the knob on there a small rod is shoved up into the hollow shaft. The rod spreads the tip and retains the knob. To remove the knob pull out the rod a half inch and the knob and skirt is easily removed.
