I bought refrigerator used and he did say he changed the compressor , could this be the water problem on the floor ? plus it shuts off about 6 to 7 hours for aprox 20 minutes or so, Is this normal ? and about the freezer , it does freezes find and also the fridge side is find , my problem is the water on floor and the turn-off time of 6 to 7 hours .
    Sean , Help !

Ok i have one more question, does it run all the time or does it cycle like its suppose to? The 20 minutes its shutting off its for defrost, but once this is down to temperature it should not be running 6 or 7 hours nonstop it should only run for an hour or 2 and then shutoff for an hour or 2 untilt he temperature starts to raise again. Let me know how it is cycling.

Oh and i forgot to add, the leak your getting is a sealed system problem with the unit, the unit sounds like he overcharged it and needs some freon taken out of it, but if its running nonstop for 6 or 7 hours either you have a bad thermostat or it is not cold enough in there.

We have water underneath our freezer and inside on the bottom shelf

You probably have a clogged drain line. Look for a drip pan at the bottom of the fridge; it should have a hose that drains into it. Thaw out the fridge like you did before, but this time use an air compressor, bicycle pump, or whatever and try to force air back up that hose to clear the clog.

Water line for ice maker/cold water leaking underneath

Check your connection at the bottom of the freezer door, behind the kick plate. Also pull out your crisper drawers and check the cold water reservior. If this only leaks when the water dispenser is pressed I would try to track the line from the bottom of the freezer door back to where it goes into the refrigerator (behind the crispers) to the cold water reservior.
If you absolutely have to lay this fridge down lay it on it's BACK only. Also be sure to let it stand upright for at least a half an hour before you start it back up.
Good luck with this!!

Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay.
Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

Refrigerator compressor overheating

Seems as if you have arefrigerant leak (or water vapor in the system) - both of which will trash the compressor in short order.
Time to take it to a pro who will put gauges on it and find out.

older fridges drained water into a pan with the compressor in it, thus cooling the compressor and evaporating the water, this is located at the bottom back of the fridge. if this fridge has a water and/or ice dispensor, the water could be leaking from many a place.

The condensate drain may not be draining into the pan under the fridge or it may have a leak or could even be not connected to the condensate pan in the evaporator.
Another possibility is that your condenser might be dirty or plugged causing the suction line going to the compressor to freeze up and then thaw leaving puddles under the fridge. Clean the condenser (the coil under or behind the fridge) and it should stop.
Over stocking the freezer will cause this as well. If you cover the air return in the freezer the evaporator will freeze up and the suction line will freeze back to the compressor.

Leak from bottom of fridge

Two things might be happening. One is the line to the fridge is leaking, this line come thru the floor or wall to the bottom and hooks up to a water valve, it may just need tightening. The other problem is you will have a hose that runs from the filter down in behind the crisper drawers to the bottom and coils up here to hold water for cold use. it then runs thru the bottom pan out to the front, to the bottom door hinge on the freezer side up the door to the dispencer. Check along the hose for a pin hole look at the bottom hinge area first, things bump into it here and can damage the plastic cover.

Water accumuluation under the fridge

at the back there should be a drip tray if this is full it will leak onto the floor it could be this, it could also be the drain in the fridge is blocked on the back there should be a self made into the back with a hole in it this is to go to the vapure, the part i was on about before, the tank is on top of the pump and its hot so turns the water in to vapour, usually there is not a lot of water but if the pipe becomes blocked it stores the water in the pipe and then lets it go in one full step over flowing the container. to clean the pipe out you can use a flex line or a net curtain rod, push it down and up the hole a few times the blockage will fool to the bottom or come out on the flex.

Water leak from under fridge when water dispenser is used

The water line is broken somewhere from the water dispencer all the way down to the water valve. I usually find that it is broken next to the water valve. Hint: Water valve is blue and located behind the fridge in the compressor department. Water line is 1/4inch clear tube that is probaly now a "yellowish" color. Easy to spot, easy to fix, especially if located next to water valve...
