Hi my name is sean, could i get some more info? Is this brand new? Have you checked voltage at the wall? If you havent do you have a meter than you can check it with? There are only 3 ways to hook up this cord likely the cord is not the problem.

The 3 prong plug that plugs into the wall has three wires at the end and need to know where do i hook those up too. its a kenmore dryer model #110-64852-400. the ser # is mr2206786

The following link explains how to correctly install a 220 VAC applaince cord on your dryer:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575913-installing_a_220_vac_appliance_cord

There is a difference in how the 3-wire and 4-wire configurations are terminated. Follow the wire color codes under the 3-wire configuration.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

I have a 4 prong dryer but the plug in the wall is a three prong, ibought a four prong plug and i dont know how to connect a three wire into a four prong plug please help me.. hugo

Do NOT try and change the receptacle please. It is dangerous and we do not want anyone getting hurt. In your case, it would be better to put a 3 prong cord on the dryer. Overall you could call an electrician to install the 4 prong receptacle, which will require new 4 conductor wire as well and run to the breaker box. Get a flat style 3 prong dryer cord and we'll tell you how to install it. Unless you call an electrician. ;-) If this helps you, please rate my answer. Thank you.

Plug problem

On a three wire configuration, the ground and the negative are tied together at the center position, using the dryer ground strap. Following is a description of the difference between three and four wire. Hope it helps you.
These two pictures illustrate the power wiring on a the terminal of an electric dryer. The one on top is the old-style three-wire configuration. Most people have this type in their homes. New code changes, though, require that dryers now have a four-wire cord, shown on the bottom.
Besides the number of wires in each cord, there are two important things to notice. First, in the four-wire configuration, notice that the dryer's grounding strap is folded back on itself. The whole point of the four-wire cord is to separate the ground from the neutral. The green wire (the "new" extra wire in the four-wire cord) is attached to the dryer cabinet. In the three-wire configuration, the grounding strap is left intact and the neutral and ground are tied together.

Sure hope this helps you find a resolution to your delimma! Best wishes.

Rhow to hook up a ge dryer change from a THREE

Put the green wire to the frame of the machine

White to nutral, red to a hot terminal, black to a hot terminal and make a place for the green.

You need a white wire in this case because the timer and light bulb are 110 V while the heater is 220 V. The green is for your safety.

Let me know if this works for you

These two pictures illustrate the power wiring on a the terminal of an electric dryer. The one to the left here is the old-style three-wire configuration. Most people have this type in their homes. New code changes, though, require that dryers now have a four-wire cord, shown to the right. These are just just thumbnail pictures that you can click for a larger view. Four prong plug to three prong plug

Is the receptacle in the wall a four prong or three prong. You will have to match the cord on the dryer to the wall recepticle. If the wall is four prong the dryer cord has to be a four prong. The green wire with the yellow line, that is on the end of the dryer cord, is a cabinet ground and should be attached to the cabinet of the dryer and making good contact. The other three wires on the end of the dyrer cord attach to the terminal block.
