There could be many solutions to this problem with out more information it is hard to tell you exactly.. -if this problem just started - check your media player settings and see that it is not muted-with Microsoft windows you will see a small speaker icon in your task bar on the bottom right hand corner of your screen check that it does not have a red x or a muted bar across it also click on it and check that no on e has puled the volume slider down to low volume. If the problem isn't here it could be corupted sound drivers or other related problems

I hope this helps

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

CD drive trying to play CD when drive is empty

Apparently your laptop still thinks there is a cd to play. Be sure you closed down all your programs. I am assuming that you already logged off and shut your computer down and restarted. It could be something as simple as your sensor that detects the cd being in place and just a little dust. Use some clean compressed air that comes in a can and can be bought like at Radio Shack or electronic supply house. Put the nozzle on and blow out any dust that may be in there. Power down and then restart your computer. That should take care of your problem.

Sound card won't work with external input

Are you trying to record and listen at the same time? It doesn't usually work that way, the computer has to process and encode the audio signals before they can be listened to. Once you restore the computer, are you able to listen to the recording? If you have onboard sound, rather than a separate sound card, all the audio processing is done by your CPU. If you are trying to listen to the audio as it is being recorded, you are probably overloading the capabilities of the device and its shutting itself down. Try to record without listening. Also make sure you have the latest drivers. If it is onboard audio, check the manufacturer's website for updates. If you know that it is Realtek AC 97 (probably says so your manual), you can download new drivers from the Realtek website.
