Question about La Pavoni "PROFESSIONAL Chrome" 16Cup

Open Question

Hi, My la pavoni is quite clogged and water is no longer coming through in a shower when I rinse through (ie. when no coffee attachment fitted). this in turn makes coffee come out very slowly and sometimes I now need to lift lever twice to get one shot of coffee. I would like to take it apart however I can't figure out how to. Do you have a link to a manual that I could download which shows how to do a full clean/service on the machine? Much appreciated. Hugh

SOURCE: Cleaning La Pavoni Burr Coffee Grinder

You'll need to remove the hopper and grind out all the beans. Then, with the lock tab depressed (if it has one), unscrew the grind adjusting collar out of the body. Once it's out, there are three screws (sometimes only two) holding each burr. Remove screws and separate the burrs. Clean away!
Be very careful putting it back together so that you don't cross-thread the collar into the body. Clean threads can help this.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Clogged shower disc

We have the same machine -- the Italian grocer who sells us our coffee recommended the following and it worked really well for us:

use a blowtorch -- we have one of those kitchen ones for creme brulee and the like -- however, you will notice slight blackening of the disc -- otherwise the disc is fine. Shine the disc in the light to ensure all holes clear. Blast it again if necessary -- gets hot so ensure you have protected your hands etc...

SOURCE: I bought a LA PAVONI

Hi,

This problem could occur due to to two problems.

1)Blockages in the valves. There are many valves present that will cause this issue.
When it is blocked due to dust particles it will block the flow.Check in the the diagram of how
to separate the La Pavoni.Apply some air pressure at the valve knob endings and the flow turnings.

2)Piston may to block the flow.So take it clean and place it properly.

Here is the parts diagram which will help you take apart the La Pavoni.

Hi if there is Vapor coming from the grouphead when the lever is down then I would guess there is a problem with the seals around the piston and possibly elsewhere. Here is a link to a goos site that looks at repairing La Pavoni lever machines. Good luck.

Water wont flow past brew head

Hi there, it sounds like your boiler may be full of scale. There is a copper tube which runs from the group up inside the boiler which can get clogged up quite easily. When you take the group apart you will see that when you remove the shower plate and unscrew the bolt in the middle the safety valve and spring will pop out and then if you get a pipe cleaner or something similar and ram it up through the copper pipe. If this does not work then you may have to dimantle the boiler and give it a good clean out. Also although you say the pump is primed it could still be broken. All these problems usually come from scale though. If you get some descaler and try to feed into the boiler by pumping or running water out the steam wand this may free it up. Hi.
Will it go on at all? You should be able to turn it about 1/4 turn to the left once it's on. How far can you turn it, if at all?
I'm not sure which filter you're referring to, so I'll cover both:
1. There is a shower screen in the brewing group of the machine. You would have to look up into the group from below, in order to see it. This should be just a press fit, it's held in place by a big O ring. If it's lopsided, you should be able to just push it back up into place.
2. There is a filter that sits in the basket. It's the one that you fill with coffee. It should just sit square in the basket. If it's lopsided, take it out and you should be able to see why it won't sit in there properly.

Hi,
Use (2). And you could back it off by 1/4 turn, rather than 1/2 turn I think. You want the piston to almost touch the screen at the bottom of its travel. You don't want the piston to push the screen out.

Pavoni, no steam from steam wand

i havent heard of this issue , it could posibly be the bent steam wand , but the nozle is made to be that way, because the pavoni eurpicola doesnt produce enough steam pressure , it enables you to create better froth

Pavoni Si - leak from above filter holder

Check your screws in the bottom of the portafilter, If they are too tight the spring mechanism inside can't do its job, adjust them and it should work. Also, don't over fill your portafilter, if you put too much coffee in then there is to much pressure and again the water will flow from the top. Hope this helps
