Question about LG 47LG50 47 in. LCD HDTV

3 Answers

My 47LG50 is just over 2 years old, about 30 days ago I started to lose the video/picture At first it happeded every once in a while, now it is every 5-8 minutes. I can turn it off and turn back on and it resumes for 5-8 minutes. I was using the HDMI, I switched to Component cables it does not fix the problem. Audio is always present. Any ideas?

I've found most of the time the 24 V is intermittent or low. Most of the time i have found the problem is the feed through s on the 2 output transformers. I always solder all the legs on both transformers. I've fixed lots of these boards.

If you are losing backlight, then you can turn the lights off and use a small flashlight to see if you still see a (faint) image. However, the symptoms are consistent with a failing main power board (MPB). It has been my experience that neither the inverter boards nor the video boards cause intermittent failure as you describe (and I have only seen one set with problems in that area). Note that I just worked on my 100'th LCD a few weeks ago, so my experience is somewhat limited.

This problems it could be those 2 long LCD inverter boards are dead,so it is not giving ur tv LCD screen panel the backlight to produce a picture or the tv Tuner signal board itself is the problems it dead.That the board,that take in the incomming broadcasting signal wire ur case the HDMI or Component cables.Take out the incomming broadcasting signal to the tv,turn on the tv,now tv have no picture,it should have a loud white static picture noises for good more 5-8 mins,than problems it not the tv Tuner signal board.Than it is those 2 long LCD inverter boards are dead.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy refurbishes 2 long inverter boards or the tv Tuner signal board for the replacement.

About 30 days ago I started losing the signal for CH 5 in Nashville, TN The strength is in the 80 to 90 range but the picture breaks up and the sound cuts in and out. Have new converter boxes,...

Have a close look at the cables between the converter box and the television set. Perhaps one is damaged by a tight bend or has a damaged connector.

Hitachi model 57SWX20B , Sound, but no picture

I had similar problem with my 57xwx20b TV as well. I'd unplug it from the wall for at leas 30-40s and plug it back in, the picture would return as normal. It will come back from time to time but the same procedure will reset the video board and the picture will return. I'd also check to make sure that the TV has the latest firmware from Hitachi as well. The FW for the ATSC tuner is upgradeable via the SD card and Hitachi website will give you the procedure. This fix all kind of problem with my TV from blank screen, green screen, flashing screen, pinkish screen because the old FW was built before the final standard. Apparently, it interferes with the video board and causes it to go amock. Good luck.

Mits 55908 Convergence problem

Good Day, John;
It sounds like the Convergence IC's have poor solder connections, by re-soldering the convergence output IC's should solve your problem. The IC's are large and mounted to large silver "heat sink" with STK 392 # on them. Good Luck, big IRISH.

Stupid gateway computer!!

Start by doing a system restore. If the restore doesn't work, I'm afraid the software has glitched and you will have to remove and reinstall it, losing any files stored in the program. If the files are stored in "my documents" then you won't lose them.

Delay to see the picture

Your power supply is going south, I have an old sony with the same problem. The voltage level drops and does not have enough 'kick' to start. It will work better when it is warm. The module will need to be replaced.
